Man as Art, a visual feast,
By Marvin Chernow (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Man As Art (Paperback)
Man as Art is a stunning pictorial essay of face painting in Papua New Guinea. It's coffee table size format and razor sharp photographic resolution make the pictures breathtaking. The colors are vibrant and the lighting is outstanding.

Stunning portraits,

This review is from: Man As Art (Paperback)
This coffee table book makes for stunning visual portraits of PNG natives in their tribal display. For lovers of anthropology, an excellent essay by David Strathern helps to put these portraits into context. I was able to identify the key ethnic tribes purely on their visual displays.

This book pushed my intrigue over the edge to the point where I had to go see for myself.
The photos are great, I've studied each one for hours and couldn't wait to make my own trip to Papua New Guinea to meet these incredible people. Believe me, this book was the portal into a life changing trip. |
