This review is from: Man Behind the Quill, Jacob Shallus (Hardcover)
Quite an interesting story about the person who was said to have scribed the U.S. constitution. But it is very short and light on detail. Not enough reproductions of contemporary documents and those that are, are of poor quality. Nothing, or almost nothing, on the mechanics of calligraphy, or its history. Many of the facts are unknown, but this very short book should have been ten times longer. Far What's there is fun to read, though, although its conclusions are necessary somewhat tentative. |
