A Man called Norman * An Unforgetable, Lifechanging Story,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: A Man Called Norman (Focus on the Family) (VHS Tape)
"A Man Called Norman" is a wonderful, unforgettable, lifechanging story produced by Focus on the Family Films. I am ten-years-old and enjoyed this story a lot! I would highly reccommend this story for kids, parents, adults, and families alike!

Soul-Stirring,
This review is from: A Man Called Norman (Focus on the Family) (VHS Tape)
This video is of an exceptional man, Mike Adkins, telling a story of how he befrinded an elderly man in his small hometown in Southern Illinois. The elderly man, Norman, lived alone with no family and the towns people treated him as an out-cast because he kept to himself and was "different". But Mike's life and heart were changed as he learned more about Norman and the importance of how you treat others around you. This is a true story and the real 'Norman' that this movie was about actually passed away in 2002. There are "Normans" in all walks of life, people who don't fit-in for one reason or another and desperately need someone to come along beside them. This video TRULY makes me want to be a better person. I honestly can't say that about any other movie. I've seen it many, many, times and it still convicts me of my own attitude.

A Man Called Norman is a story about a man who everyone is afraid of. He's the weird neighbor that everyones shuns, because he doesn't act like the rest of society. Norman represents the folks in our world who require more than the simple hi and hello, who can't do for themselves. We all are in a rush in this world, and oftentimes don't have time for individuals who are slower, maybe not as clean, that you don't have anything in common, and it requires work to get to know them. Many people like Norman are lonely people needing a real friend to reach out to them. This is the story about a guy who works through his own shortcomings to become a friend to Norman. It is an inspiring film.

I have the books and I have seen the movie. I cant wait to get my hands on it again. It is a funny heartwarming and inspirational movie of what live and our walk 'should' be like. Even when it isn't so easy to do... it is always worth doing it if God is in the lead.

I read the book and listened to the audio file of the talk by the same title. This is a wonderful story of accepting and reaching out to those who are different, and how God has a plan for EVERYONE.
What I did not realize was that this video is the same as the talk I heard through Focus on the Family. As it came on film, I thought it was an actual movie. In the book there are pictures of the cast that was involved in the filming, so I thought it was a movie recounting what was told in the talk/book. This is NOT the case. The movie is actually Mike Adkins on a stage telling exactly the same thing that is on the audio version, but you see him and his body language. Again, truly a great and inspiring story, but I probably wouldn't have bought the movie if I realized it was the same as what I already had listened to. |
