William R. Greene ("Bill" to you) was born an Air Force brat at Eglin AFB, Florida. He has sojourned in Florida, Hawaii, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, Colorado, and Massachusetts, but is a Tar Heel by pedigree and inclination, with his ancestral home in Stokes County, North Carolina. He now resides just outside Chapel Hill, in Calvander, with his wife Allison and four cats.

Bill got hooked on writing software as a 16-year-old student at the NC Governor's School.

He met his future wife Allison when both were students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Their son Austin was also born in Greensboro.

Bill is a Software Engineer with decades of experience, having worked in compilers, operating systems, and computer networks for a research lab, a compiler house, two start-ups, and computer manufacturers including Apollo Computer and IBM.

No stranger to the publishing business, Bill writes, edits, proofreads, marks up copy, specs type, and has held jobs as a typesetter and layout artist.
