2.0 out of 5 stars No sparks....
I think I am reading to many romance novels, lately they all seem to have the same storyline. Rich black male pursuing a heroine who has emotional issues with commitment. To me, this love story was no different than the others. Its time for me to take a break.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Fortune To Have Found Love, June 30, 2009

My rating for is 4.5
As the second installment of the Best Man Series we get to know Duncan up close.

Duncan Gilmore and Dr. Tamara Wolcott meet for the first time in a elevator that they get stuck in. Duncan & Tamara get off to a rocky start in the elevator but while there they begin to get to know each other a little better. Tamara tell Duncan about her life why she became a doctor and the failing of her marriage to her ex. Tamara has put up this wall and after her marriage ended she decided that from now on she will not depend on a man and that she will be a independent person. Tamara thought she had everything under control until Duncan her stirred up all kind of feeling and desire in Tamara.

Duncan lost his bride to be in 911 and he has been carrying around this guilt because Kalinda was not what she appear to be. Duncan realize that although he love Kalinda he was not in love with her but being the man that he is he thought he was helping her. Duncan is not into game playing and like Tamara for Duncan she stir emotions in him he had never felt before.

For Duncan and Tamara it was fortune that they found each other because Duncan found the love of his life and for Tamara she saw what a man love can do for you. Duncan was everything her ex was not he was kind, good looking and a wonderful lover. Duncan put Tamara first her happiness was his happiness. I am so loving re-visiting with the Whitfield family and seeing how their business is striving and seeing them with the men they love.

I am waiting for the next installment...Ivan story, and to see Jordan with his love. I have start reading the online read from Harlequin which begin yesterday. This online is about Jordan & his family.

Smooches

Louise

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!!, July 20, 2009
This review is from: Man Of Fortune (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Now this is more like it!! I really loved Duncan and Tamara's story. I could actually feel the chemistry between the two of them. It was nice revisiting characters from previous books and I am really looking forward to the last book Man of Fantasy. Unlike Man of Fate, I could actually feel the chemistry between Tamara and Duncan grow from like, lust then love.
Now what would really be nice is to have a story about Rodney and Maribel. Plus it would be interesting to find out if Tiffany's life was really as perfect, as she pretended. I seriously doubt it since she was such a witch to Tamara. I would also like to know if Renata really divorced her husband. It would be interesting to find out if he cheated because she was so shallow. These books leave a lot of room for spin off stories about the supporting characters. I think Jordan and Natasha's story would be really interesting too. Although I wasn't crazy about Man of Fate, this book more than made up for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Second is series is more memorable, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Man Of Fortune (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok - second time areound - is definitely heating up! Duncan and Tamara are more real, have more substance in their plot and therefore I can actually remember the two main characters. Getting stuck in an elevator for a while is a cliche but ok... Of course Ms. Alers does a wonderful job on describing Harlem/NYC. I just wish the characters were not all beautiful in perfect jobs and neatly done in happily ever after. After Duncan gifts Tamara with Duchess - you kind of know he is in it for the long haul...The man is fine, rich, intelligent, sensual in bed and no baby mama - no personal drama what is there not to love? I like Duncan best when he is a nerd - glasses and jeans!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Man's Misery Is Another's Passion, June 30, 2009
By
This review is from: Man Of Fortune (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rochelle Alers brings the second installment of the Best Man miniseries. She brings the thing that every woman tends to pray about and that is a good man except Rochelle gives this man flaws that he accepts and works towards making it better.

Duncan Gilmore affectionately known to his friends as D.G. is the trios financial advisor who has had his share of losses that have affected his life tremendously that leads him to simply distance himself from females who get to close. When he meets Dr. Wolcott in an elevator after they are stuck on it due to a malfunction he finds himself intrigued with the enigma of a woman before him. DG past keeps resurfacing and when a piece of his past causes her to walk away he finds himself pushing past the pain to gain what he finds to be his reason.

Dr. Tamara Wolcott was the passionate emergency room doctor who loved her job and the rush that went with it. After a fail marriage and a hard childhood, she finally finds herself. However with it came some restrictions she set for herself so when she meets Duncan she finds herself throwing up everything she knows to make him back off but when Duncan pushes forwards she takes a chance to see what would become of the situation.

Tamara & Duncan both have past situations that make them complex people but make them a dynamic couple but when issues arise it cause a break that almost becomes a repeat of their past just in different reflection. Once again, Rochelle has given us a glimpse of a good man with the air about himself but he has earned it. I cannot wait to meet Ivan Campbell on a more personal level as Rochelle close out the trio.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Love with Duncan and Tamara, November 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book helped me get over the disappointment of the first book in this series "Man of Fate." In this novel we watch Duncan and Tamara deal with their past and find love in each other. So far Duncan is my favorite of the three friends, even though he is considered the nerd, he is a very confident man. I love the way he handles bitter Tamara and I love how he exudes such manly qualities. I think this story moved along more realistically than Ava and Kyle.

I will have to say that I could not put this book down, I was glued to their story and was glad to see it work out...I would recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Love In An Elevator", October 4, 2009
This review is from: Man Of Fortune (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I liked this book but the storyline was a tad bit rushed to me. The chemistry between Duncan and Tamara was believable and the other cast of characters were fun. Tamara's friend Dr. Rodney Fox should have his story told, I see potential there.
