5.0 out of 5 stars Inner Journey, October 8, 2005
By
Geoff Pearson (Charlotte, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Man from Four Quarters: Lover, Warrior, Magician, King (Paperback)
With the medium of poetry, Reid Baer is able to tell the story of the old and new wounds that are a part of a man's journey. This is not poetry that requires you to have a vast knowledge of ancient texts in order to understand his intention. It only requires that you pay attention to where his words guide you into your own journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Word of an Awakened Man, October 7, 2005
This review is from: The Man from Four Quarters: Lover, Warrior, Magician, King (Paperback)
"If I may quote one of Reid's own poems, `He's awake this morning sifting through more dreams than he can hold in his mind. . . having wrested with himself a long long time.' This collection of poems is from an awakened man, who shares his every part of struggle and triumph of what it means to be a man, no, what it means to be human." - Grant Schnarr, author, The Art of Spiritual Warfare

5.0 out of 5 stars A Worthwhile Read, October 7, 2005
By
This review is from: The Man from Four Quarters: Lover, Warrior, Magician, King (Paperback)
Our hyperactive, bottom-line culture sends lots of confusing mixed messages about what it means to be a "real" man. These poems feel like brightly lit cairns that mark the anguished battles Reid Baer has fought along his path to open-hearted, courageous masculinity.

This review is from: The Man from Four Quarters: Lover, Warrior, Magician, King (Paperback)
I found myself reading each of Reid's poems several times before going on to the next and always nodding my head with a hmmmmm, yes, yes. The poems let me see his strength, vulnerability, humor and wisdom.

5.0 out of 5 stars truths of love and fear, October 7, 2005
This review is from: The Man from Four Quarters: Lover, Warrior, Magician, King (Paperback)
"This is a treasure of a book with words and stanzas that embody

innocence and simplicity. The deepest truths of love and fear are

imparted to the reader. With a fresh eye, the work reminded me of

my own life' s journey - it's struggles, and it's moments of contentment.

A must read for anyone exploring the inner journey of the masculine."

- Edward John DiMaio, author, Sound Scent & Light

5.0 out of 5 stars A man for all reasons, October 9, 2005

This review is from: The Man from Four Quarters: Lover, Warrior, Magician, King (Paperback)
With his latest collection of poems Reid Baer clearly illucidates a depth of insight that can only come from having a finger on the pulse of universal manhood- in all its grit and glory. "Personal Growth" and "Common Swami" were my favorites! For "EVERYMAN" seeking an authentic voice that describes our sometimes confusing male experience with genuine wit and grace.
