The new book by both Blackaby's (Father and Son) is one of the best instructional texts for authentic manhood. This text takes a man from his initial walk with HIM to a far greater and meaningful experience. Blackaby also has a leaders set that I'm currently using with a group of more than 60 men starting next week. (Our first group to use the material was 6.)

I encourage all Christian men to spend seven weeks with the Word and guidance from Blackaby. Of course this is a must for all of us Men's Ministry Leaders. God Bless All

This book begins with the truth from I Corinthians 1 which talks about God using the foolish things of the world to shame the wise and the weak things of the world to shame the strong. It discusses the fact that talent, abilities and skills do not impress God, that He will use whomever He decides to use in whatever way He desires. From there the point is made that God is more interested in a man's heart than his giftings. Chapter two devotes a section to listening to God and responding to His call. Faith is involved in accomplishing God's purposes. "God never told men to do something they could do on their own" write the authors (p. 49).
This book reaches the goal of the title as it focuses a reader on the topic of "the man God uses."

If you are at all familiar with Blackaby's work, you will want to read this book.

I have used the earlier workbook version of this book with two different study groups. The first group was college and military men. The second was with high school students. The book adapted well to both groups even though it is targeted to an older audience.

Blackaby hits key men's topic issues in a thought provoking way. He forces the reader to encounter key issues of integrity and character and challenges you to address those issues in your own life.

This book is critical reading for any man seeking to follow God's will in his life.

This is book along with the correlating Bible texts can change your life. The insightfulness of this book is precise and on the mark. I am living proof to what Blackaby writes, because my life was spared by God from a plane crash, now I serve Him as a pastor.

I have heard God's voice calling me. It is through this that I was very intrigued by the first sentence on the back of this book; "Anyone who has ever been called by the voice of God or touched by His hand is eager to know and understand His will for their life." That was, and is me.

If you are looking for a very practical book to build and strengthen your daily walk with Jesus, this is an excellent book. Having gone through all the things that the author writes, about I can testify that this book is exactly how God uses a person whom He has called.

If you are honestly seeking to be used by God, you will be richly blessed by read this book.

We just started the first chapter in a business mens group and its been a great challenge, most of the men have been beeliever for quite some time, and the feedback has been great. Although at times very deep and needing some serious time of reflection to take it all in, its an excellent resource to grow you men (of any age or stage in their walk) to a stronger walk with the Lord, challenging you to be more like the master!

Our group is going over this book and meeting every 2 weeks.

I think I prefer the workbook version, this is not the same, this is a complete book with a coupe challenge questions at the end.

The workbook is has much more in the way of self examining questions, but might be more intimidating to some based on the pace and number of questions.


There is a leaders guide with an accompanied dvd as well, we only recently found it and ordered it, so I cant say how helpful it wil be.

I would highly recommend this resource to anyone.

I am currently reading this book with a small group of men I meet with weekly. It is a great book to help in understanding God's refining process for men and the different ways he uses us for His divine purpose. Blackaby bases his book on scripture and not his own ideas. I am finding it a very good read and quite enlightening. It is helpful to have examples of current events that demonstrate how God uses men today. What a privilege to be used by God to help others.

I have been going through this book with my men's small group and it has been great! I have been leading small groups through various different books and studies through the bible for over 10 years and this has been the best study I have found so far. I already ordered another set of books to start another small group in our church. This is a great study to get men on the right track to a relationship with God. Very convicting and inspiring study. The material continues to build each week and compliments what you have already read. Again - WOW

This book is written by 2 well respected Christrian church planters / missionaries, Hernry Blackby and his son. They do a great job of really getting down to where the rubber meets the road in terms of how a man can walk with God. They pull no punches. If you are a man and serious about maturing spiritually and learning how to live victoriuos in a fallen world then this book along with the Bible will change your life and how you view God, others and yourself.

This book spoke volumes to me during a very difficult time. I'm thankful for a mentor that encouraged me to read/study this book.

The book is being used in a small group study. It is working out great. I was happy to find the book at a great price and received it short time in almost like new condition (only a few pencil marks). We have only completed the first chapter, but the material has led toward interesting discussion. I look forward to learning and completing the material, but the book has already been well worth the price.
