It appears that Emusica is trying to cash in on El Cantante movie release and pushed this compilation as quickly as they could.

The selection of songs is excellent and the fact that they did not pulled the same stunts as FANIA did in the past (40 minute CD's) is commendable but they screwed up again on the sonics of this compilation.

Some of the songs (Aguanile, Te Conozco, Barrunto, Todo Tiene Su Final, Periódico de Ayer, Hacha y Machete & Vamos a Reír un Poco) sounded worst than the previous remasters (A lot of hiss and compression).

Are you guys (Emusica) actually listening to the recordings on a decent system before they are released to the public or you are just putting them out as fast as you can?

All of my favorites on 1 CD. Tho I agreed the sound quality on some of the songs were not up to par. The vocal were good but the instruments were in the background & sounded low

I bought this cd. All i can say as a salsa listener is that this cd is great if you are a Lavoe fan. The only thing missing was the song "el dia de mi suerte" I really like that song and I think they could include that too because as we al know it's another Lavoe hit. In all the cd is very satisfying.

All the songs are great and it takes you down memory lane, back to the 70's & 80's.
Hector LaVoe is "La Voz", indeed. Love it, just love it. RIP one of the best singers of Puerto Rico, Viva Hector LaVoe!

This CD is the bomb. There will never be another Hector Lavoe. Forget about it. A couple of songs were left out, for example, El Titan, which is a classic from Hector's early days with Willie Colon, but luckily it was included in Willie's "Man & his Music" collection, which is also superb. Make sure you buy this CD. There's nothing like having a couple of beers, playing dominoes while listening to Hector Lavoe & the Fania All Stars.

I have been a fan of Hector Lavoe and the fania sound since I was a little boy back in the 70's. I have recently completed my collection of Hector Lavoe and i was a bit uncertain about buying yet again another best of. this was well worth the money, the sound was fantastic and the selections on the 2 disk set was great. hell enjoyed it so much that i brought an extra for my younger brother.

This is such a good double CD. It contains the masterpieces that are Isla Del Encanto and El Cantante. There is a nice variety of musical styles too - not just salsa but a few bouncy Cumbia songs. As mentioned by another reviewer, it's strange that El Dia De Mi Suerte is not included but it seems to be common practice for "Best Of..." CDs to have at least one hit missing so you have to buy some other CD. Despite this it's still a great compilation and would be a good introduction if you're new to Hector Lavoe.

There is nothing better in music than to have an original product of one of the best salsa singers of the salsa music. Every song is beautiful and is awesome to sit down with good friends or family to remember "The Good Old Days"...

This is a great CD collection..though "De Ti Depende" and "Bandolera" should of been added to complete it.
The sound is good and some slight hiss on some tracks are but insignificant.
A must have for all the New Hector LaVoe Fans to have in their CD collection.
