Biography

During the mid-’70s, Germany’s Kraftwerk established the sonic blueprint followed by an extraordinary number of artists in the decades to come. From the British new romantic movement to hip-hop to techno, the group’s self-described “robot pop” — hypnotically minimal, obliquely rhythmic music performed solely via electronic means — resonates in virtually every new development to impact the… Read more in Amazon's Kraftwerk Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic analog digital, September 26, 2007
This review is from: Man Machine (Audio CD)
If you aren't a Kraftwerk fan already, then in my opinion there are better introductions -- like Minimum Maximum. If you are a fan, this recording is an absolute must have. Krafwerk foreshadowed the digital era way back in the 70's and 80's using analog synthesizers, often of their own design and construction. The sound is less precise, dynamic and hard- edged than modern Kraftwerk, but it sounds more "musical" -- in that Man-Machine sort of way. Four of the tracks on this album are absolute classics, with two of them (Model and Neon Lights) containing two of the most unforgettable melodies ever to come out of "pop" music.
