5.0 out of 5 stars U.D.O. still has the right stuff - a great metal album, November 29, 2002
By wizey (Margate, Tasmania, Australia) - See all my reviews
I just got the new U.D.O. album "Man And Machine" and I think it [rocks]!
You either love or hate the voice of the former Accept front man, as he definitely sounds like no other, but I love it. I am a long time Accept/U.D.O. fan so was well pleased with Man And Machine. It has copped some criticism for sounding too much like old Accept style "Balls To The Wall" music, but that is what pleases me. With Stephan Kaufmann on guitar also, how can it not sound like Accept?
Highlights are "Animal Instinct", "Dawn Of The Gods", "Like A Lion", "Silent Cry" and "Dancing With An Angel" is an interesting duet with Doro Pesch.
Heavy & powerful with great guitar work, pumping drums & bass, and Udo Dirkschneider screaming as well as ever this album is a must for any U.D.O. or Accept fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album to be done live, July 1, 2002
By scott gordon (escondido, ca United States) - See all my reviews
Well, it looks like UDO has done it again. This album is a very rocking album. The opening track of "Man And Machine" is a very brilliantly done album. All the tracks that are on here are songs that could be done live with no problems and done very well. The song contains a duet with fellow German singer, Doro Pesch, from Warlock. The song is a mellow song but very nicely done which could also be done live. The feel of the cd is that of classic metal, just like the past few UDO efforts. I can't think of what to say that could have been better done, so let me just talk about what is right with it. The production effort, done by Stefan Kauffman (guitarist and former bandmate from Accept) does what one might say as a superb job. The guitar work on this album is familiar to the olden days of Metal, none of that bassy feel, but those high pitched sounds. To me classic metal contains real guitar work, and there isn't too much of that left unless you get into the old school groups, and thanks to UDO, it is still around. If you are looking for old school sound with great lyrics with meaning that fits todays feel then this is a cd to have.
