A quick, light read, January 31, 2006
This review is from: The Man Means Business (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am new to reading the Desire line. I confess I am a romance writer myself and picked up this and a few other titles as research for me to possibly write a few titles for Silhouette Desire myself. This book is nothing earth-shattering, but it has all the elements of a great, quick romance read that is perfect for a Saturday afternoon at the beach or on a rainy day. My one complaint is, although this title is set mostly in Chicago, it doesn't do a very good job of featuring Chicago as a location---some parts of Chicago living the book depicts are even a little inaccurate---such as describing "apartment complexes" in the city---there really aren't any "complexes" in the city; there are either "high-rises", "courtyards", "mid-rises", or "two-flats". Lots of little elements like that which would be familiar to any Chicago dweller are all missing from this book. (I live in Chicago, so I suppose I'd be hard to please in this respect). But a light, fast-paced read with a satisfying ending.
