Me agrada leer las biografías antes de comenzar a leer a un escritor porque te permite conocer de antemano el fondo que hay detrás de sus cuentos o novelas: a veces un amor no correspondido o simplemente su propia filosofía de vida. Esta biografía en especial, "El Hombre Frente al Espejo del Libro", ha sido escrita de una manera impecable. Tiene una perfecta secuencia cronológica que te permite seguir secuencialmente la evolución de Jorge Luis Borges como escritor y como ser humano; y sobre todo, esta ajena a sentimientos parcializados y a fanatismos que suelen encubrir la realidad. Este libro es totalmente recomendable no sólo por que tiene a Jorge Luis Borges como protagonista (a pesar que sólo eso bastaría para interesarse en esta biografía), sino por su redacción y la calidad del contenido que ha sido verificado.De más estaría resaltar que JLB vivió para la literatura. Anglófilo desde que aprendió a leer y bibliófilo desde que pudo caminar. Su vida transcurrió en la ficción, más aún cuando quedó ciego y tuvo que ser asistido por su madre primero, y luego que ésta murió, por Maria Kodama quien fue su segundo esposa y quien actualmente conserva todos los derecho de autor de JLB. La biografía está llena de anécdotas que permitirán al lector despejar muchas dudas. Disfruten, pues, de este libro que narra la vida de uno de los grandes de la literatura Latinoamericana moderna.

This is as judicious and non-silly a study as you'll ever read of Borges -- distorted neither by hatred of the man's widow nor by thraldom to her, and very subtle and funny about the man's milieux, his writings, his Anglophilia, his legacy. An exemplary literary biography.
