ONE OF THE BEST OF 1988,

Nigh Ranger has always been on of the favorites of the 80's, even with this CD that it's not the most successful...................well to tell you the truth, they don't have a lot of successful albums. This one is a gem, it shows you the mature, musically speaking, side of the band.
It's great on the diverse of the music on this one, we have a pop tune (very pop) "Don't Start Thinking", we have a few rockers "Man In Motion" "Love Shot Me Down" "Halfway To The Sun", of course, the classic ballads "I Did It For Love" and "Reason To Be" even an uptempo one "Kiss Me Where It Hurts" (Wow I really like this one). The rest are no fillers, are deep well played songs that you can enjoy without skipping tunes. The great thing about this guys is that you can feel that they are enjoying playing and they know better that most musicians play their instruments. I always felt that Alan Fritzgerald didn't fit on the band, he is not in the band on this one. After all, kind of you get use to him and when you don't see him, there is a missing piece. One of the best of 1988. Don't have it? You really need it if you have any other album of the band. Highlight: Man In Motion, Kiss Me Where It Hurts Lowlight: The price. ($39.99???????)

a good solid rock album,

This review is from: Man in Motion (Audio CD)
Man In Motion is a good solid rock album.I don't know if it's the absense of keyboardist Alan Fitzgerald or some other factor, but this album seems to me, as Night Ranger albums go, to be missing something. Not that it's a bad album. Just a little less of that something that makes me like Night Ranger, rather than other equally talented bands. It is, however, in no way a bad album. If you're a fan of melodic hard rock, give Man In Motion a try. It's a good solid album that won't disappoint.

Too bad you missed the cheaper, domestic release!,

Some may disagree, so if that colours my validity, too bad. This is DEFINITIVE AOR composition. With this release, Night Ranger have displayed the cream of their musical crop. There are hooks, harmonies, melodies, arrangements, and lyrics herein to compare favorably against any other AOR album that has come out. The only song to make it [relatively noticed] on the radio, 'I Did It for Love', wasn't written by the band, but was performed with the trademark Night Ranger ballad flavour. The rest of the disc offers more complete Night Ranger AOR than any of their other efforts.. Get your copy before it's completely out of print...[The preceeding announcement does not necessarily represent the opinion of Amazon.com or any of its affiliates.. *snicker*]

Goodbye to Glory Days of AOR,
By susumu-5 (Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Man in Motion (Audio CD)
Man In Motion, released in late 1988, is the last original album of the Night Ranger before it disbanded in 1989(The band reunited in 1997). It is really a great album with crunching rock beat featuring double guitars. It didn't make huge hits like previous albums but the overall quality of the album is just great. REASON TO BE, RESTLESS KIND and DON'T START THINKING are the catchy tracks that are close to mid-80s AOR style. It lacks Alan's excellent keyboard but otherwise it is a nice album not to be missed.
Verdict: Last of great AOR days. Rating: 90 out of 100. Not a hit-producing album. Recommended for: Night Rangers and 80s pop rock fans.

What an awesome release from Night Ranger. There is truly not a bad song on the disc. The production quality is top notch as well. Too bad this one isn't more accessible. If you can find this, get it. Takes you back to the day! Probably one of their best!

In my opinion...this is Night Ranger's best album to date.....and I have all of them. This album did not get much airplay and I don't know why....probably marketing.

5+ Stars-nuchin' less! - A Night Ranger Masterpiece!!!,
This review is from: Man in Motion (Audio CD)
This one kind of fell off the radar after 'Big Life'('Secret of my Success') unfortunately fell on deaf ears(I still dig it), and the 80's were closing, I guess people were kind of distracted away from this eventual 'materpiece'! Yes, I said 'Masterpiece'. I've been with these guys from day-one and although nothing they do will ever really compare with their classic debut 'Dawn Patrol'...or the follow-up 'Midnight Madness' or it's follow-up-'7 Wishes' for that matter, this effort scoots right in the pocket with those gems as some of their best music! Awesome production, great songs throughout-not a mediocre one here-just plain, hard-drivin' Ranger(and a few nice ballads), the way we love 'em.
I also highly recommend 'Neverland'...another burst of creativity and awesome chunks of melody for which these guys are known. I know Fitz is gone and apparently Watson has grown tired of the direction they were headed. In an interview with Amy Kelly from Ultimate-Guitar.Com © 2008, Brad commented on Watson's departure saying: "Well, we had some conflicts of direction in the style of music and personality conflicts. It was either move on or break the band up, and we had to keep the machine rolling." No matter how you slice the Night Ranger bread, it is always tasteful and different, yet always familiar. As long as the voices of Ranger and Gillis' trademark guitar sound and technique are still in tact, I'll be all in with anything these guys do, collectively and/or otherwise. I'm a proud product of 80's rock, and these guys helped define 'Rock in America' as we know it. On that note, Good Luck Jeff - you still 'da man too!

Thank god these guys still put out new music. This is one of the better CDs when Jack Blades came back after the Damn Yankees. The lyrics show a lot of maturity from their eighties stuff. I like the sarcasm and grit.
