a wealth of occult and supernatural information!,

This review is from: Man, Myth and Magic: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Supernatural (24-Vol. Set) (Hardcover)
this is a must have for anyone interested in the supernatural. the articles and information contained in this set are highly informative, unbiased and well researched. There are many, many interesting pictures as well as paintings drawings etc which are very nicely reproduced in full color. The set came out in 1970 and was sold through the mail by subscription. there are 24 volumes including an index.I own quite a few books on the supernatural and have studied the occult for many years. This set has been a priceless source of information as well as a suppliment to most of my library because it contains information, most of which in depth, on just about every occult/supernatural topic you can think of! I highly recommend this set to people interested or studying the supernatural. i have seen smaller condensed versions of this set but never another encylopedia set such as this. It is quite hard to find especially intact and in good condition as it is now many years out of print.I have searched through endless used book stores and have come up with nothing. Amazon is the first place i have seen the set.

Exhaustive compilation,

I was fortunate enough to come across the complete set - As a teen I had read the first three at my grandmother's house. As was popular at the time, they were distributed once-a-week in grocery stores, with the first volume free, so I suspect complete sets to be somewhat scarce, especially non-ex-library sets. The articles are well and authoritatively written, and I have enjoyed hours of reading by browsing the various topics. A very good source of occult information, as well as the paranormal, and the history of witches and the occult is covered extensively.
If you're a student of the occult, it's a must. For history and conspiracy/skeptic buffs like me it was worth every penny for the profusely illustrated and well written set.

Something Very Special About This Set....,
By W.W. (Detroit, sucka.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Man, Myth and Magic: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Supernatural (24-Vol. Set) (Hardcover)
First came across this twenty-four-volume set in a public library years ago and knew I had to acquire it for myself. Very well edited, it contains entries on everything from angels to Zoroastrianism; and oozes eldritch spookiness. Overflows with color photographs and illustrations. Printed in Italy: so you know it's well-made.
