5.0 out of 5 stars What a great plan
What a nicely written book for girls. And coming from Whitney who recently married a billionaire herself, this book is packed full of practical advice. It's a fun read, and I highly recommend it. It sure made me laugh.

Like many of the other readers that have written reviews on this book, I too am extremely dissappointed that I ordered this one. This book was like Drive Men Wild-For Dummies! If you've never gotten any attention what-so-ever from a man then this book is for you!
I skimmed through this book in its entirety the day that I received it in the mail and had to laugh-out-loud! The only reason I even bought this was because I'd heard an advertisement for it on my local radio station and it drew my curiousity because they really didnt give many details regarding its message and only focused on the writers resume. I will know better next time. This was a complete waste of my money. This book was filled with nonsense. Teaching the readers hygiene tips, make-up, how to send cell phone text messages using correct abbreviations! come on now...get real... Please save your money

1.0 out of 5 stars Disgusting, March 2, 2009
This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
Why would I take dating advice from this antiquated, artificial, divorced after 9 months woman whose best tips are to wear high heels and never wear a nude bra? This book has the most obvious ways in the world to attract a man, but doesn't dare go any deeper to discuss relationships in any sort of meaningful way. If you're strictly looking for the maximum amount of male attention, save your money and invest in makeup and heels, instead. At least, that would be Whitney's advice. This book is terrible for women in general and especially young women who should be told that there are in fact men out there who value more than fake tans and artifice.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is horrible, March 3, 2009

A book about how to please men that advises women to cook more meat, and read up on sports and make sure you have a nice tv? Really????

Excuse me, what year is it?

This book is just stupid. If what you want is to fulfill every wish/fantasy that a guy has, it's not difficult to do that. But what about a real relationships based on being who you really are? Wouldn't a woman's time be better spent trying to achieve that?

1.0 out of 5 stars A Step...in the WRONG direction., February 25, 2010
According to "The Man Plan," in order to get a man, I must wear the perfect outfit (no pearls or bracelets that make noise, God forbid), never carry a large purse, wear matching bras and panties (must be sexy, never comfy), never let a man know I might use Nair or other beauty products, never go to a restaurant where they serve fajitas (it might make my hair smell!), only wear makeup deemed acceptable by the male population, have an extensive vocabulary on gourmet food, be a wine expert, know quotes from a variety of "Man movies", be an excellent cook, be knowledgeable with cars, become a "Miss Fix it", understand and enjoy all sports, never admit that I am sometimes insecure, and be amazing in the sack.

Essentially, I am to adhere to a meticulous list in order to become the perfect specimen of woman. Now, I am all for offering helpful suggestions for becoming the kind of person that others want to be around, but Casey's commandments are unreachable. Her bumbling, non-effective writing style glosses over the stories (which are obviously fabricated) and ignores the fact that these "men" she interviews are dumping otherwise great woman for things such as carrying the wrong purse, wearing nude colored bras, or having the gall to smell like fajitas after dining at a Mexican restaurant. Apparently, not being equipped to carry an arsenal of beauty products in your purse (which must be small and cute, of course) is a cardinal sin in dating.

The entire time I read this book, I couldn't help but think that the people with the problems weren't the women at all. Casey and the "men" she interviewed sounded like miserable, judgmental people.

I hope that no woman reads this and believes that she must follow each of these rules to find love. Toss this piece of sexist trash in the garbage and go pick up, "He's Just Not That Into You". Let's start focusing on how it's okay to have flaws, that there aren't a million rules that apply to ever situation, and the most important thing you can do is love yourself and have some respect.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a let down!, February 28, 2009

This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
I heard so much about this book & felt completely deflated when I read it....there was absolutely nothing cerebral to it.

Perhaps if someone needs help with the fundamentals of hygiene & etiquette, then this book would be good place to start.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Collection of Sidebars from Cosmo, February 25, 2009
This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
After interviewing 250 men "from SoHo to St. Louis", Whitney Casey has released a book that is all the rage among single women called "The Man Plan". While her tips to not reveal too much skin on the first date and to smell like baked goods instead of your grandmother's garden are sometimes pedestrian, Ms. Casey does present some well-researched ideas that even the most seasoned dater might find useful. For instance, she quotes a university study that claims wearing the scent of grapefruit will make you appear 10 lbs. thinner. Hmmm...

However, I did take issue with tips such as:
- Pretend you don't know much about sports. Men like to think it's their thing.
- Don't put pictures of your family or your dog by your bed.

These tips are simply manipulations that deter you from being your fabulous self! Maybe they will help you get a 2nd date, but they won't help you keep the guy.

And did I mention that Ms. Casey herself is single? (She does have an interesting relationship portfolio though, having been married to Jason Sehorn and dated Rocco diSpirito.)

1.0 out of 5 stars So artificial............, February 5, 2009
By
This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
Why would anyone want to take relationship advice from someone who is divorced after a 9 month marriage??
If this woman is really oh-so-awesome, why is she 32 and still single?

Her advice is so shallow.
If you want a life filled with botox, diet pills, empty wine bottles and lonely nights, then this book is for you

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!, July 26, 2009
By
This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
I read this book cover-to-cover as soon as I received it and although it gave some insight on how men think, the information it gives is nothing I would actually take to heart. It makes it seem as though you have to be absolutely "perfect" in order to attract a man. The men I know couldn't care less about some of the topics discussed in the book, such as whether or not I only wear natural, neutral tones of toenail polish. In fact, quite the contrary, most men I've met actually love seeing cute designs painted on your toes. My advice is to save your money and just be yourself! Men love confident women who are happy with who they are as individuals...and you don't need this book to tell you that.

1.0 out of 5 stars This chick seems like nothing more then a manhattan ditzball, February 28, 2009
This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
To be perfectly honest , I haven't read the book not think that, as a lesbian woman, it really appeals to me. BUT after listening to her majorly lame advice for dating on match.com , where I have my personal ad; all I can say is that this chick seems like another, high priced and high fashion , Manhattan, NY yuppie ditzball! everything from how she suggests women wear wedges, which I like, but not her kind, how to choose the right outfit and what to say on dates; right down to her totally lame choice of cosmopolitan YUPPIE WEAR clothes, suggestions for " light" food the day of the date= IS WEAK! upon seeing this flake woman's advice, I not only wanted to puke; but I was like " do we all have to look, dress, and act like that to have a successful date? PULLEASE! if I ever saw somebody who puts definition to that old valley Girl saying, " Gag me with a SPOON" it is this Wall Street Investment banker loving FLAKE! count me in as the one to wear that K-mart camisole and denim skirt to a fancy date- I'm going country!

1.0 out of 5 stars Can I give it NO STARS?, March 20, 2009
This review is from: The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away (Hardcover)
Please don't be fooled by the 4 and 5 star ratings you see. They are obviously written by Casey's PR team (and likely Casey, herself). Do a quick google search for "Whitney Casey" and you will discover why this woman isn't qualified to give relationship advice to a cactus. Her columns in the Houston Chronicle are pun-laden, childish, gibberish that attempt to set the women's movement back 50 years. I know that women are too smart to fall for this!
