This review is from: "As a Man Thinks ... ": Thomas J. Watson, the Man and His Philosophy of Life as Expressed in His Editorials (Imitation Leather)
As we mourn the passing of the computer age guru Steve Jobs, it is interesting to go back to the grandfather of the field in IBM's Thomas J. Watson. His philosophy for IBM was "think".
In a collection of editorial in "As A Man Thinks.." leaves nothing behind as a collection was put together in the 40 year anniversary of his leadership of IBM.
The topics weave the gambit from thinking to living and into the ingredients of progress to name a few.
As Watson declares "to think is to achieve" which is probably the hardest profession to be in.
Not totally cerebral he does declare that "thinking people should compile an inventory of the spiritual assets of the world." But this does begin with a look on the inside as "no individual has had long lasting success, or brought comfort and happiness to himself and others, without spiritual guidance prompted by the teaching of the Golden Rule."
As he concluded in a section themed "education" he quotes Eihu Root who once said, "Men do not fail; they give up trying." People of faith never give up trying.
A unique collection of old school thoughts and practices.
