then it's going to be a sonic experience of wonderful electronic bliss. I hear they collaborated with the girls from the Breeders on a few tracks. Track listing:

However, now that I have had time to properly listen to this entire disc, it's nothing like I Guess Sometimes. . . but that's not a bad thing. The Man Who Ate The Man veers far away from the sonic instrumental experimentation of their first disc and explores territory that's more pop song oriented. It reminds me of a darker version of Lali Puna's Faking The Books. Lo-fi electronics, live drums, electric guitars and vocals. Yes, vocals this time around. With the exception of May Your Last Words... (one of the best tracks on this disc) all the vocals are male. In The Hours After and Without Words are excellent examples and also two more of my favorite tracks. The Breeders connection is a brief one. Kim Deal plays drums and Kelley Deal plays guitar on Kel's Vintage Thought (a really awesome instrumental track).

If you're into Lali Puna, Laika, Notwist or other artists that fuse low-fi electronics with live instrumentation then you'll love this. If you're a fan of Magnetophone's first disc and expect more of the same you will either be highly disappointed with this release or you'll find it slowly growing on you. It's good stuff.

Also, if you're lucky enough to find a copy of the 500 limited edition CD pressing, it is packaged in a gatefold sleeve with a deck of eight mini cards of abstract photos and obscure phrases like WALK BENEATH BAD LIGHT, YOU DO WHAT I'VE DONE and SHAPES TO PRAY TO.
