Review

'This follow-up to Father Frank is as witty as the original. It's like being handed an ice-cold beer after a long walk in the desert. I read it in a single sitting ... impressive in-depth knowledge on a huge range of subjects which includes a knowledge of records that Nick Hornby would be envious of ... a wonderful mix of colourful characters, spur-of-the-moment jobs and a blossoming love story' Ireland on Sunday on TMWFILWHW 20050123 'A well observed and funny look at modern life ... has been likened to both Nick Hornby and Tony Parsons. I can quite understand why' Nottingham Evening Post 20050122 'Funny and fast-paced stuff following up Burke's best-selling debut Father Frank' Dorset Echo 20050122 A fast and entertaining read ... It all has a Richard Curtis-esque veneer ... it works because its real' -- Sunday Express Laughs a-plenty as former Father Frank Dempsey copes with being a dad -- Daily Mirror 'A very skilful practitioner of a genre hitherto dominated by Nick Hornby and Tony Parsons ... this novel should secure his position in that particular literary gang' -- Time Out on The Man Who Fell in Love with His Wife 'Like a gift from heaven' -- OK! on The Man Who Fell in Love with His Wife 'A perfect gem of warmth and humour with a charming twist, it is highly addictive and worthy of mass recommendation.' -- The Bookseller

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite a good little book, August 27, 2006
Warm and humorous. So claims a back cover blurb. That is exactly right. I love this book. It required an act of will not to interrupt Jan at her work every two minutes to recite bits of it. Many bits. Most bits.

Some back cover blurb bozos want to compare the author to people I've never read. That's not nice. In fact, I don't like comparing anybody to anybody else. But hell, I'm gonna compare this guy to Terry Pratchett. That's a compliment, okay? I love this book. I'm gonna keep it for a while.
