He's managed to find excellent musicians every time he loses them.
Matthew Schwarz
Most of all, the album is very diverse: there are some really mellow and melodic songs, and then again, you have your fast and full on heavy metal assaults.
K. Simicevic
If you like anything from Wolfsbane to Xfactor and his earlier solo albums, definitely check this one out!

This is an amazing CD, definately in my top 3 cds of all time. If you are a fan of metal, whether you hated or loved blaze in Maiden, go out ang get it now, its so great not a weak track. and I think its better than Silicon Messiah.

There are no possible words to describe the cleanliness of The Man Who.... It shows the best singer ever at his best and his band of musicians of the highest class performing what metal lovers expect to hear when getting a CD.

I didn't mind Blaze in Maiden but I didn't feel that he was giving us everything that he had. With his two solo cds Blaze has come full circle. His vocals are clear, consistent, and emotional....something that Maiden wasn't able to get out of him.

Thanks Blaze for this incredible gift.

I'm not a good reviewer....
Just needed to say that God bless Blaze and all the joy he brings into my ears....Silicon Messiah, Tenth Dimemsion are awesome, I you dont have them, buy them now!!!....Blaze is still moving forward!!!...the only little thing I dont like is repetitive chorus...that thing killed Maiden songs....Keep on going fast Blaze!!!...you are my only hope to always expect a new album!!!....(after having this CD for 1 month, gotta say that it is the best CD from BLAZE by far).

If you like Blaze Bayley's earlier work, you will definitely like this album! His powerful voice sounds fantastic, and the songs are heavy, head-banging goodness with Blaze's fascinating dark touch. If you like anything from Wolfsbane to Xfactor and his earlier solo albums, definitely check this one out! I highly recommend it.

I bought The Man Who Would Not Die a couple of months ago through Napster and I must admit, I did not regret it!

I first got into Blaze in 2003 when I bought Tenth Dimension and was really, really surprised by the quality of Blaze's solo work. Back then, I thought, that he had one of the strongest Heavy Metal bands in the world.

But that was back then. In the meantime, his band fell apart, mostly because the label problems, poor management, etc. I didn't even know that Blood and Belief existed until about a year ago!

Now Blaze returns with a new band, and they are very talented, not only as musicians, but also as songwriters. Every song oozes with intensity and character, every song is well paced, the riffs seem to flow really well and some melodies are very catchy!

Most of all, the album is very diverse: there are some really mellow and melodic songs, and then again, you have your fast and full on heavy metal assaults. One of these is the lead single Robot, which at moments sounds like a cross between melodic death metal and classic heavy metal!

Most of all, all of the songs on this album work. And I mean every single one! There is not one bit or song that I skip, not one bit that sounds out of place, not one piece that feels like it doesn't fit. This album is a hidden gem of Heavy Metal, and I recommend with enthusiasm.

Highlights include the title track, Blackmailer, Samurai, Robot and Serpent Hearted Man.

When I first got this (pretty much when it came out), it didn't catch on with me at first. It was cool, but I felt the music was a little too heavy for Blaze's somewhat croony voice. But, after repeated listenings, it fell into place and it just keeps getting better.
Blaze's post-Iron Maiden albums are, to me, what metal's all about. He's had some lineup problems, but they're HIS problems, because by the time the music makes it to us, the listener's, there's nothing to complain about! He's managed to find excellent musicians every time he loses them. His music rocks, the guitars and rhythm section are fantastic, but what really stands out is the songs and the music. Whatever complaints people had about him in Maiden, Blaze is a great singer on his own stuff. His voice is lower than the traditional 80s and power metal sound, which allows him to sing well without sounding retro : ) He may not be the greatest singer in metal, but he's pretty darn good and has his own distinct voice.
Anyway, if you like metal with proper singing (i.e. not death growls or hardcore shouts or whatever), you're in for a treat.

If you are a fan of well-played, technical metal, with excellent melodic vocals, then you can't miss with this release!
Now that I am older and supposedly more responsible, I don't have the luxury of that much spare time. Therefore, I don't like to waste my time on subpar efforts, even if it is a band I have grown to love. No worries here though. The songwriting is excellent, the musicianship is stellar and the vocal lines are strong. Consequently, some of the other recent cd's I have bought are getting neglected in favor of this masterpiece!
I do agree with one of the other reviewers that the volume on the vocals could be louder at some points but that is a small distraction in an otherwise perfect work.
Every song is good, if not great! Personal favorites are: While You were gone, Robot, Smile back at Death, and the phenomenal Serpent-Hearted Man. Awesome lyrics throughout and the whole album is just relentless! More people need to support Blaze and his band.
