4.0 out of 5 stars alo still rockin
i had very high expectations for this album after roses and clover, which ive had on heavy rotation sinse 2007. well im pleased to say that alo man of the world is a strong/solid follow up, though not as good as there last album it comes very close. expecially with the ultra laid back funk of songs like i love music, and put away the past. there is also a song called...

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat of a change for ALO
Not sure how to put my finger on it, but this new CD does not sound like the first two. May have to give it a few laps before I can say if I like it. Songs do not have that "beach" sound that "Fly" and "Roses" have. It is like they went for a more mature sound. Not sure if I like it.... Will update what I listen to it more. Want to like it, as I really like this band...

I'm blown away by this one. I haven't heard an album quite like it... yet it sounds somewhat familiar and I'm strangely drawn to it. Where I imagined Jack Johnson's influence as producer to be ostentatious, it's actually sublime. And you can tell they had fun while making it. I'll keep this one in the rotation for a while, for sure!

This is a good third album for the group. I found these guys via the Jack Johnson tour. Great music. A nice combination of Dead type music, Phish and Jack Johnson. Their lyrics and jams are much better than Phish's stuff.

I didn't get this album when it was first released and I am sorry that I spent a couple of months without it! As others have said, this *is* different from other ALO recordings, but in a progressively groovy way. Highly recommend.

Also, highly recommend seeing ALO live - I saw them a couple of weeks ago with Jack and they ripped it up. Started right on time, played from all albums and had great crowd interaction. Only problem - they didn't play long enough!

4.0 out of 5 stars love ALO, not sure if i love this album, yet., March 13, 2010

I absolutely love the band, and thats what saved the review from 3 stars to 4. If you dont have Time Expander, get it, because its an older album of theirs that isnt as well known, but super funky. Fly between falls was great, and was what introduced me to the band. Roses and Clover is probably my favorite . This album has not jumped out at me like either of the 3 i just mentioned. I do like the tracks Put Away the Past, and I Love Music, but the whole album has a relaxed feel that is different from the previous albums, almost TOO relaxed honestly. I was hoping for some upbeat, fun, and funky ALO that im used to, live or in the studio. But who knows, it could grow on me.

ALO are one of those bands that just keep getting better and better!
I have seen them live many times over the years and each time I see them they progressively improve!
I love the new cd "Man of the World" and will for sure keep it in my cd player in the car for the next few months into summer! Make sure to catch ALO live in a town near you!
