If you're lucky,
This review is from: The Man You'll Marry (Mass Market Paperback)
If you're lucky you have a treasure or a dress like this to pass on to family or friends. These 2 stories concern a dress that is magical, in that when it is received, the next man you'll meet will be your husband.
Why there is only one title on the cover I don't know, both titles and descriptions are given on the back, but that you cannot see if you rely on getting your books online, because it certainly isn`t intimated in the editorial review that these are previously published works. I hope it is not a method to `hide' that fact. Debbie Macomber states, the first thing in her interesting introduction that they are. I hope all readers of the many books in this genre know they need to investigate copy write dates inside if they do not remember titles, at least these titles weren't changed which is sometimes done - that is just a heads up for readers who are not aware of this already. With that said, these are 2 of Macomber's most charming stories, a bit different than the normal girl meets guy romantic plot - one with more than a little magic. The characters also create a smile, they are a bit different, an aunt who thinks about her wedding dress to send because she watches a TV show where a man has a Scottish terrier and the dress was made by a Scottish seamstress, if you are fortunate you also have `loopy' relatives like this. The dress figures in both stories; first being sent to a niece and then in the next given to the best friend. Neither lady can picture herself being married to the man she meets, but love, thank heavens wins out above all. It's nice to have a romance with a bit of a giggle and a smile; with pleasant characters. This book does just what it is supposed to do, entertain you and give some pleasant reading.

It was ok...,

This review is from: The Man You'll Marry (Mass Market Paperback)
These stories were kind of hard to get through and I believe that they are reprints from the 90's. I do think that the second story was better than the first, in that the character, Jill, was much less whiny and exclamatory and you empathized with her. Plus the fact that Jill didn't bring up the wedding dress every 5 minutes in the story was great, since that was all the first story did! The synopsis sounded better than the actual text, and both stories had potential but neither really met the mark for me. I know that the idea was to have individuals who are polar opposites to fall in love, but Shelly was hard to relate to, with her dayglo sweatshirts and creating "sound" cds.

The bar is higher for Maccomber,

In anyone else this would be a 4 star read. I expect more of Maccomber. This is a repub of a couple earlier romances, and is an ok read, but not among her better ones. Her characters rescue this from its slightly strained plot premise. Maccomber is gifted in writing characters you either think you know or would like to.

These early books really help me appreciate the Blossom Street books! But, still a nice, clean and fun read. I got this for my Kindle and I love my Kindle!

Fun Romance - 2 stories involving a "magic wedding dress". The girls involved fight against love at all costs.
