4.0 out of 5 stars Thorough Overview
This is a very thorough overview of the topic, however the test I took for the state did not have one single similar question from the book. The book was way more technical and detailed. This is a good thing as I was over-prepared. I passed the test even.

I got this book to help me get a sense of what an upcoming analyst exam might be like.

The only value to this book are the test taking strategies in the beginning. The actual content of the sample tests reflect nearly completely outdated management methods and concepts and technology.

"Magnetic Drum Random Access Memory Storage" ??
Punch Cards?

Any current MBA student, or anyone with a passing familiarity of modern technology would be dumbfounded at the assumptions inherent in the sample tests.

This book also doesn't take into consideration new methods of organization, and non-physical work flow. Like, this book lives in a world where the office courier comes by to pick up your drafts to drop them off in the secretarial pool, and thus, the way the office is physically laid out is an important consideration for line and staff functioning.

This book would have been GREAT in 1983! In fact it reads like a 1983 update of a 1963 civil service test.

Don't waste your time with this book. You are better off trying to find someone who took a similar exam in the same agency.
