Book Description

0070340374 978-0070340374 January 1, 1995 Rev
This new edition incorporates new material on planning and other issues to expand upon Juran's pioneering views of re-engineering. The work contends that the manager's basic function is to create change ("breakthrough") or prevent it ("control"). It demonstrates that each process is governed by a universal sequence of events. By understanding these patterns, managers learn how to do their jobs more effectively. The text features new analyses of the issues that arise whenever organizations introduce change.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Although perhaps less well known than fellow quality guru W. Edwards Deming, Juran is considered by many to have played a more important role in this country's quality management movement. His Quality Control Handbook, originally published in 1951 and now in its 4th edition, is the field's recognized international standard reference. At the time of first publication in 1964, Managerial Breakthrough was not widely acknowledged, but it has become a landmark treatise on continuous improvement. Juran lays out the principles of quality planning, quality control, and quality improvement that are the foundation of his management philosophy. Revised and updated to include the concept of reengineering and to address contemporary issues, this 30th anniversary edition is a must purchase for all business collections. David Rouse

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for all executives, September 20, 2000
This review is from: Managerial Breakthrough: The Classic Book on Improving Management Performance (Paperback)
By far the best book on management ever written. I bought the original in about 1975 and after 20 years of use it fell apart so I purchased this new version. If only others would read and comprehend this masterpiece - it would save them millions. All work managers do is either in maintaining performance or improving it and Juran provides provides two universal models that can be used by all. The basic principles of control and improvement without all the jargon. They are as true today as they were in 1966. Read it and you will want to keep it by you always.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Extraordinary Book, September 14, 2004
This review is from: Managerial Breakthrough: The Classic Book on Improving Management Performance (Paperback)
This is a great management book. I recommend it along with "Strategic Organizational Change" by Beitler, "Good to Great" by Collins, and "Execution" by Bossidy & Charan.
