Exceptionally helpful in the trenches,
By Thomas Kelly (Calif) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Managing Active Directory for Windows 2000 Server (Syngress) (Paperback)
I was impressed that htis book was so great in helping me understand how Windows 2000 Active Directory worked. It is advanced - and menat for the engineer - not your average Joe technician - so it has a lot of details...even secrets. I thought it was written in a straightforward way. I understood the concepts right awaya nd could use them in my network today. We have a huge network and this book written for people who have many users not just the local network with 75 users! It is on my shelf and going to stay there!

High-level and hands-on,
By Bill Littlefield (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Managing Active Directory for Windows 2000 Server (Syngress) (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book to any system administratator trying to migrate over to Windows 2000. It strikes a great balance between delivering a high-level overview of essential new features and "in the trenches" hands-on advice for configuring a Windows 200 LAN. Strong both conceptually and practically. It's a winner!

I'm up and running thx to this book,
By Ty Lee (Oakland) - See all my reviews

I bought this book to learn about Active Dir. It gave me mor than just the facts - it told me what to look out for and what to do. My network is running on windows 2000 now without a hitch! The only thing that was kind of weird was chapter 12 - it was out of place - it seemed like an overview that got stuck in the back of the book.

Good book for AD,
By Peter Woo (Tempe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Managing Active Directory for Windows 2000 Server (Syngress) (Paperback)
I got this book along with the System Administration Handbook. Both books are really good. This is the firt really detailed book I've seen on AD.

Finally,

This review is from: Managing Active Directory for Windows 2000 Server (Syngress) (Paperback)
I was very excited when this title published, because I've been waiting for a really good Active Directory book. This is one of the most useful things that Microsoft has put into Windows in a long time, and this book is the first book that shows you how to actually take advantage of it. Strongly recommended,

Well Writen,
This review is from: Managing Active Directory for Windows 2000 Server (Syngress) (Paperback)
This a well writen book on ADs and it does show to you the important and salient points about ADs. In contrast to a number of books that I have read on ADs this one is definitely worth having it on your shelf

Bought this one too, unimpressed,
This review is from: Managing Active Directory for Windows 2000 Server (Syngress) (Paperback)
Left scratching my head on many of the chapters. Also the topics covered were written in a manner that was too advanced and failed to relate back to previous versions of Windows server O/S for clarification. W2K has many new concepts and this book seems to be written for thise that beta tested the product.
