5.0 out of 5 stars An area needing development in language teaching, April 12, 2011
By
Stephen Pellerine (In a bookshelf somewhere) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Managing Curricular Innovation (Cambridge Language Teaching Library) (Paperback)
I will be open and honest in that as a read I find this book timed and in need of updating. It is 15 years old and could use a bit more tech as web 2.0 has entered the scene. I feel that more books are needed and I feel the curriculum frameworks are lacking in the world of TESOL/language teaching.

I am not saying great teaching does not exist, but that even richer education could be provided for our language students of the world if more thorough and thoughtful curricular models were used to enhance the language instruction they receive.

The book is easily a 5 as there are not many like it. If you are looking for such literature this is it, one of the key publications for you to sink your teeth in to. If you are looking for a solid curricular framework that can be adopted VERY WELL in the world of language teaching order The Teaching for Understanding Guide (Jossey Bass Education Series). Teaching for Understanding, I feel, is like CLIL but better thought through. Much stronger design as the articulation of the frameworks goals are clear - yet clearly flexible.

Why no solid models for language teaching?
