This program is a dramatic presentation of the importance of rapid patient assessment and transport in the case of brain, chest or abdominal trauma. The need for team work, accurate pre-hospital trauma assessment, and recognition of priorities are emphasized. Cursory reference to anti-shock trousers (MAST) needs elaboration regarding the specificities of application and function, and the implication that their use by emergency medical technicians is universal should be qualified. Another significant omission is that the Glascow Coma Scale is not cited as a means for assessing the level of consciousness. An excellent definition of "shock", particularly relevant to the basic emergency technician, is provided. This is a well-organized, effective educational tool which is recommended for use.
