Articulate and readable, this widely acclaimed, widely used text examines virtually every aspect of health services management, with an emphasis on the increasingly prevalent systems structure in U.S. health care.

A true gold standard, this text is used in colleges and universities nationwide to teach students how to tackle the challenging issues facing today s health services managers, and to provide comprehensive coverage of the conceptual frameworks for managing the organization and delivery of health services. Hundreds of thought-provoking discussion questions and nearly 80 intriguing case studies let students apply what they learn about the following contemporary issues and more: health system dynamics; administrative and biomedical ethics; legal issues; influential management theories, including emotional intelligence and competencies; implications of technology changes; managed care and alternate delivery mechanisms; and nontraditional and alternative medicine

3.0 out of 5 stars Reads like a dictionary, January 28, 2011
I bought the book for a class. It is informative, however the information is presented in small font with no italics or bold to assist in identifying key points. It makes the weekly chapter reading a chore. The material is dry and I would liken it to reading a dictionary.

I had to buy this book for a doctoral class, I thought I'd never use it again but I have found that it is a great reference book.
