This was the text required for my personnell management class. (200 level) I have the Bohlander 13th ed. which is a better text, being better organised. But after going through this book I liked it as well. The last chapter on international HR issues was especially helpful. I have adapted the expatriate worker technoques to address interdepartmental issues in my organization. I understand there will be a new edition out in June 2006. Perhaps it will be better organized.

Ordered this book to use as a co-teacher for a college course. Turns out it wasn't in stock with the vendor and it took weeks to receive that information, after being told via email that the book was in stock and had been shipped out. The book itself is okay -- not the best HR text out there, but not the worst. The case studies prompted a good deal of in-class discussion.

I ordered this textbook because the course I was taking was written on this edition (4th) and college bookstore shipped the 5th edition. Both editions are similar however some of the "non-necessary" jargon and text was taken out of the 5th edition so having this edition made my course a success. There is a Case Study in the 4th edition that does not appear in the 5th so for other students looking for that Case Study I am sure the college got many emails. I had it all as I had both editions.

Well organized and synthetic,
By Larry Morales Arnao (Tokyo, Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Managing Human Resources (Hardcover)
This book contains the basic principles that any HR or General Manager (especially in the US) is supposed to know. I have been using this textbook as a guide for my MBA studies. I used this book to find basic, straightforward ideas about HR principles and how this function is changing in the era of globalization. This way, I could use it to organize my own ideas, and if needed, using the enclosed bibliography, I could go to more specialized books on a particular topic of interest.

Anti-White Male...Racist & Discriminatory Book...!!!,
This review is from: Managing Human Resources (7th Edition) (Hardcover)
This is a book written by ethnic authors with a clear agenda to use any source, and I mean "any" source they can to promote the false idea that White Men are soon to be a thing of the past in the United States Workforce. Some of the sources used in this book are more than twenty-five (25) years old, yet they are passed off as fact and current. The "Pew Hispanic Center" is cited all over this book. Like this organization's statistics aren't riddled with an agenda? Visit: [...], and see just how easy it is to compile data that is nothing more than fiction, and prejudice.
This book is a blatant display, by a trio of modern minorities, educated in the United States with government funds, using the white-man's tolerance and misplaced guilt as a license to attack the white man and display their enthusiasm for the idea of the eradication of White Men in the United States. There is really no need to buy this book because it sends a message that perpetuates ignorance and bias, and promotes discrimination. As well, it is a reprint of a college textbook that was not well received by academia. This book will never make history, as the authors deliberately distort reality throughout a very exhaustive, boring read. Not a current or accurate work on the law regarding U.S. Human Resources, as well. If a White man wrote this book he'd be labeled a racist!!! This book is full of logical fallacies, ignorant anecdotes, and a very clear hatred for White Men. The authors promote the "Death of the White Man" ironically in a context that should be about understanding the importance of U.S. employment law and diversity issues the U.S. workforce is facing today. These three authors are collectively as intelligent as a dust pan, but as hateful and evil as an army of religious crusaders during the Inquisition. This is a disgusting display of insidious, racist behavior. Message to the Authors: You are no better than the very thing you claim to be in opposition to...Discriminatory Bigots!!!

The book was a copy of the textbook. The print quality is so bad it looks like the words are disappearing in front of your eyes.
