Anyone who applies themselves to this text will have a good feel for the discipline in general and a great launching pad for further study into specific philosophies, frameworks, and/or methodologies. It influenced much of my initial thinking on quality at pmStudent.

I recomend this book if you are looking to start a TQM program in your company. However, you need to have a good back ground in statistics to understand how quality works in the industrial sector. The book gives several examples of successful companies and how they apply TQM in to their daily operations.
