5.0 out of 5 stars Dynamics AX Professional - This is an MBA level of knowledge about AX packed into a book of this size
Let me say that this book by Scott, his latest in this series, is by far the best book out there that attempts to cover so much needed knolwedge.

The knolwedge level gained is for sure an MBA level, and the structure used to deliver this knolwedge fits right into the structure Microsoft delivered for the information worker with Dynamics AX 2009...

1.0 out of 5 stars Managing Your Supply Chain Using Microsoft Dynamics AX
This was a horrible book, with almost nothing to recommend it. If you are new to Dynamics AX, this book will not be of any use to you, and if you are already familiar with AX, the book does not offer any insights into how to use the tools effectively.

Screen captures and navigation are missing. Narrative is dry and lacking examples.

I recommend this book to any Dynamics AX pro or customer that is looking to really get as much benefit out of Dynamics AX as possible.

I am looking forward to Scott's next release, which will include Lean Manufacturing. (Lean Manufacturing was just pre-released to the Partner community)

5.0 out of 5 stars A tremendous resource for upgrading to AX 2009, March 8, 2009
This review is from: Managing Your Supply Chain using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (Paperback)
Dr. Hamilton has written many great texts and has a long history with ERP systems in general. He now also has multiple years and releases of AX. Aside from this being a great resource for anyone new to AX, it's a great resource for AX 3.0 and 4.0 users evaluating or planning their move to AX 2009. The book provides thorough coverage of the new costing, requisition and distribution functionality along with all the details needed to understand the multisite and production unit concepts. For AX users, this is a great book to both help you get started and to keep as a reference as you expand your implementation after the initial go live. As a consultant, it's something I'll use to help understand pieces of functionality that are new to me or as an expert reference when working with companies in various industries.

5.0 out of 5 stars A handy reference book for any AX process mfg implementation, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Managing Your Supply Chain using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (Paperback)
Having read a prerelease copy of Scott's book. I would say it is a great book for someone implementing the new AX capabilities for process manufacturing, that wants to quickly ramp up their knowledge within a short time or for experienced AX users that want a handy reference book.
Scott's book provides a detailed coverage of the new AX capabilities for process manufacturing and explanations of the incremental differences. The complete walkthrough of managing a process business using AX is an excellent tool for new users. I have used some of Scott's previous books about AX in my implementations, which also provided the same level of in-depth analysis and thoughtful insights.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real find for consultants new to Dynamics AX, February 27, 2009
This review is from: Managing Your Supply Chain using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (Paperback)
As a long-time consultant for retail distribution firms (mostly Oracle implementations), I was recently confronted with a need to learn about Dynamics AX as quickly as possible. I found this book to be a gold mine for me. It walked me through the system in a step by step logical sequence. I haven't seen anything like it for other ERP packages!

"Managing Your Supply Chain Using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009" is well written.
This book is structured as an academic book and it helped me in my training of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.
By reading this book, I was able to understand the fundamental of the software.
Before this book, It was very difficult to understand the principals behind Microsoft AX 2009, now i am learning
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 faster.
Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best AX supply chain reference available, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Managing Your Supply Chain using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (Paperback)
This book is a must-have for any AX supply chain consultant. As AX continues to expand in both breadth and depth, this book provides a valuable single-source reference for both functionality and supporting business processes. It's well written by Dr. Hamilton in the same style that made the 2 previous versions of this book excellent references - supporting diagrams and use cases are helpful and easy to understand. It's easily the best AX supply chain reference book on the market today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Managing Your Supply Chain Using Microsoft Dynamics AX2009, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Managing Your Supply Chain using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (Paperback)
Scott Hamilton has written two books I have read and this one is very easy to follow and understand while still being explicit and technical. I have been using the product for over seven years now and Scott finds ways to make functionality simple and effective by giving examples and definitions of the process. I feel Scott has a great depth of knowledge in this area and deftly applies it to his writing. I look forward to suceeding revisions of this product as Microsoft builds them letting Scott do his magic to interpret.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, but hard to read, June 21, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Managing Your Supply Chain using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (Paperback)
The book is a good purchase, if you'd like to learn SCM principles and issues in general. However, it was announced to be "with Microsoft Dynamics AX", but I found not so much relation to the actual product in the book. SCM process is described well, but I would enjoy direct references to menus/forms in the product itself. Like that the book could be named "with [insert ERP product here]", as the products themselves have common functionalities.
