Book Description

December 16, 2002

This exam measures the ability to administer, support, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate Microsoft Windows 2000, including Windows .NET Server. This exam is a core requirement of Microsoft's MCSA certification. Certcities.com ranked MCSA as the No. 1 certification for 2002. This book is not intended to teach new material. Instead it assumes that you have a solid foundation of knowledge but can use a refresher on important concepts as well as a guide to exam topics and objectives. This book focuses exactly on what you need to pass the exam - it features test-taking strategies, time-saving study tips, and a special Cram Sheet that includes tips, acronyms, and memory joggers not available anywhere else. The series is supported online at several Web sites: examcram.com, informit.com, and cramsession.com.

The accompanying CD features PrepLogic™ Practice Tests, Preview Edition. This product includes one complete PrepLogic Practice Test with approximately the same number of questions found on the actual vendor exam. Each question contains full, detailed explanations of the correct and incorrect answers. The engine offers two study modes, Practice Test and Flash Review, full exam customization, and a detailed score report.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Longer Out of Print, February 4, 2003
This review is from: MCSA Managing a Windows 2000 Network Environment Exam Cram 2 (Exam Cram 70-218) (Paperback)
It is good to see the Exam Cram series of books back on the market. I think the company switched hands or something and now you can get these great books again. I took the 218 exam early last year and passed using this exam cram book (1st Edition) along with the Microsoft Press book on the 218 exam. Before I went into the exam I studied the card insert of this book for about an hour and it was a great refresher. I passed the test and got my MCSA cert as well. Exam Cram gets you to concentrate on only the material covered in the exams and is a great tool for passing the test. However, if you want to learn about Windows 2000 networking and active directory paradigms I would suggest purchasing something else. Get the cert first though. Good luck.

What else is there to say. You buy this book and study, you learn and you pass the test. It's that simple. Yes I will say you do need to have some experience to understand about 2% of the material, but that's what study guides are for, not exam crams. Que has set the bar high.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of Tune and Deaf, Buy the Book, Get the Exam, December 25, 2005

This review is from: MCSA Managing a Windows 2000 Network Environment Exam Cram 2 (Exam Cram 70-218) (Paperback)
This is an Exam Cram and not a conceptual paper for a PhD. It should be treated as an Exam Cram and not a full technical manual and study guide. It is a tome which you use during the last period of your study to "CRAM" and remind you of the essentials etc. It is not meant to be used as a bible on the subject. Some clowns actually use Exam Crams well out of context and then blame them for their exam failures like the bad musicians they are, always off tune especially when they put pen to paper to review the book and try to shift their lack of preparation and guilt into blame on their study tools. Use several sources for study if you can, don't always take the advertising blurb for gospel and get your head down in your studies. But for gods sake don't blame the tools!
