This review is from: MCSA Managing a Windows 2000 Network Environment Exam Cram 2 (Exam Cram 70-218) (Paperback)
It is good to see the Exam Cram series of books back on the market. I think the company switched hands or something and now you can get these great books again. I took the 218 exam early last year and passed using this exam cram book (1st Edition) along with the Microsoft Press book on the 218 exam. Before I went into the exam I studied the card insert of this book for about an hour and it was a great refresher. I passed the test and got my MCSA cert as well. Exam Cram gets you to concentrate on only the material covered in the exams and is a great tool for passing the test. However, if you want to learn about Windows 2000 networking and active directory paradigms I would suggest purchasing something else. Get the cert first though. Good luck.

DeJuan, MCP-A+-Net+. What else is there to say. You buy this book and study, you learn and you pass the test. It's that simple. Yes I will say you do need to have some experience to understand about 2% of the material, but that's what study guides are for, not exam crams. Que has set the bar high.

This is an Exam Cram and not a conceptual paper for a PhD. It should be treated as an Exam Cram and not a full technical manual and study guide. It is a tome which you use during the last period of your study to "CRAM" and remind you of the essentials etc. It is not meant to be used as a bible on the subject. Some clowns actually use Exam Crams well out of context and then blame them for their exam failures like the bad musicians they are, always off tune especially when they put pen to paper to review the book and try to shift their lack of preparation and guilt into blame on their study tools. Use several sources for study if you can, don't always take the advertising blurb for gospel and get your head down in your studies. But for gods sake don't blame the tools!

Buy this book, read it cover to cover and you will pass your exam!!!
This book has no flaws. It's coverage on all of the exam topics is absolutely perfect. They hit the nail on the head with this one and hit their mark. Just read this book cover to cover, take a few practice exams, and take your exam when you can consistently get over 800 on your practice exams. That is how I passed this exam. I used this book, read it cover to cover and took some practice exams, that's it, nothing else. I attained my absolute highest score to date with the help of this book. I scored almost 900 out of 1000. You can too.

I've studied and successfully passed exams 70-210 and 70-215 each with the couple sybex (studying) & examcram2 (review) and it went good.
But in the case of 70-218, ExamCram2 book is very bad. It's not badly written, but it's content it's not deep enough (the book is very thin, 350 pages) and the question, which are _the most important thing_ are way too easy, and this is very bad, specially for a review book. 70-218 is a fundament for Active Directory understanding and it deserves _special_ attention in studying: in this idea, this book is a complete failure. |
