Written by experts for students and professionals, this well-timed book provides detailed information on the foundations of health care information management; the history, legacy, and future of health care information systems; the architecture and technologies that support health care information systems; and the challenges for senior management in information technology, such as organization, alignment with strategic planning, governance, planning initiatives, and assessing and achieving value. Comprehensive in scope, Managing Health Care Information Systems includes substantial discussion of data quality, regulation, laws, and standards; strategies for system acquisition, use, and support; and standards and security. Each chapter includes an overview and summary of the material, as well as learning activities. The activities provide students with the opportunity to explore more fully the concepts presented.

I am just starting a degree program in Healthcare Informatics and this book gave a very good overview of the basics. What the standards are, how hospital informatics systems are set up. Very readable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great service, old book, October 7, 2011

This review is from: ManagingHealth Care Information Systems: A Practical Approach for Health Care Executives (Hardcover)
This book is old and somewhat out-of-date. Just a FYI that you may need to do outside research because healthcare technology has changed dramatically since this book was published. As far as service, timely shipping and the book was in great condition.

This review is from: ManagingHealth Care Information Systems: A Practical Approach for Health Care Executives (Hardcover)
I am in grad school and this is one of my required texts. I will say that after having had it for a couple of months now, the information is relevant to the class and easy to read. The price for all my textbooks were better on Amazon. I just searched using the ISBN number to make sure I had the right one.
