Heard about this on "Fresh Air" on my local public radio station. It's vaguely reminiscent of the Captain Beefheart musical rants that I grew up on, though more instrumentally complex (who exactly thought of using TWO bass players?). Very interesting musical ideas. Not arranged like Basie or Ellington would have done, but very interesting. I've always said that REAL entertainment consists almost solely of telling me a story I haven't heard before. Though the Decoding Society told this story some time ago, it was one I hadn't heard. Thanks, guys!

This music alternately rocks, wails, is pensive and quirky. I love the compositions and musicianship of the players. This is one of my favorite Ronald Shannon Jackson recordings. It's only bested by "Barbeque Dog"
