5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book!
Mandie has returned to Asheville and school, but something very strange and puzzling is happening. The church bell rings not only 12 strikes at 12 o'clock, but 13. And then when a influenza outbreak stuns the city, the townspeople blame it on the bell. Can Mandie figure out the mystery of the bell and keep herself out of trouble at the same time? Apparently not. But she...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not the best.
This book lacked the usual suspense and exitement of most Mandie Books. The most interesting thing that happened was that Mandie, Joe and Celia got locked in the church basement. Read it just to keep up with the series, otherwise it is very dull and rather boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book!, August 25, 2003
This review is from: Mandie and the Mysterious Bells (Mandie, Book 10) (Mass Market Paperback)
But she tries her best and is rewarded by solving the mystery. But then another problem arises. Can she save an innocent man from being jailed? Find out in 'Mandie and the Mysterious Bells'!

This book has never failed me. If I want something good to read this book never disappoints me.
One thing I like about Mandie is that she is very open and loving, even to people who cause trouble. She can see the good in people and she helps them. That's one of the things I admire in her.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring until the last chapter., May 11, 2006
This review is from: Mandie and the Mysterious Bells (Mandie, Book 10) (Mass Market Paperback)
Okay so I wasn't very pleased with this book and I'm so glad I bought it as a Goodwill and only paid fifty cents for it. The book was boring until the last chapter which is the one that gave it the second star. Without that chapter it would be a one star book.

The book starts off with Mandie and Celia having to solve the mystery of why the bells at the church are ringing the wrong number of times. Most of the locals think it is a bad omen espically when the flu breaks out and a big snowstorm comes. When Mandie and Celia solve who is behind the ringing of the bells they have another mini-mystery to solve. At the end of the book it leaves it open for the next book in the Mandie series.

The characters were all okay. The one I loved the most had to be Ben. In the book it is set way back and so the black people are still servants and men seem to be the main provider of the household.

This a great book. Mandie and her friends, Celia, and Joe, have another mystery to solve. The clock bells, thet ring 13 times at noon and midnight! Mandie makes many trips to the church but only find almost useless clues. In the end they find a helpless man and help him. This book realy had me guessing the ending kind of suprised me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed, June 20, 2000
This review is from: Mandie and the Mysterious Bells (Mandie, Book 10) (Mass Market Paperback)
I was disapionted with the end of the book. All through the story the group makes lots of trips to the church and finds things that don't add up. At the end they find the person by chance, and he explains every thing. All they needed to do through the whole story was find the person who did it. Leppard sounded as though she didn't plan ahead so she fixed it all up at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, April 17, 2000
This review is from: Mandie and the Mysterious Bells (Mandie, Book 10) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was very good and suspenseful. Mandie and Celia are staying at Grandmother Taft's house while there is an epidemic going around. Someone or something is ringing the bells and extra time at each other. The townspeople are blaming the bells on all the sickness that is going around. What can Mandie and her friends do before things get out of hand?

4.0 out of 5 stars Not very 'mysterious', April 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Mandie and the Mysterious Bells (Mandie, Book 10) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought this book didn't really seem like a mystery. It had a good plot, but the author didn't seem to work a lot of suspense into it. When obstacles occured, my heart didn't start beating with fear, or anything like that. It was just, generaly, not very interesting. But, still read it to keep relevant with the series. The Church bells begin to ring thirteen times at Midnight. Mandie and her friends decide to investigate, but they don't really find anything. After a while they solve the mystery. It sounds interesting and suspensful, but it isn't.
