About the Author

Lois began her first Mandie story when she was only eleven years old. But eventually the manuscript was tucked away in a drawer and forgotten. Lois went on to attend Furman University and studied music for several years in New York City where she and her sister sang professionally. Some years ago, Lois was prompted to pull that old manuscript out and began to work on Mandie's story-of her childhood in the South at the turn of the century and her Cherokee heritage. The rest is history and now the MANDIE BOOKS series have sales nearing six million copies! Lois writes from her home in South Carolina. Enthusiastic young fans fill her mailbox with their insightful responses to her stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super-Duper!, December 4, 2003
This review is from: Mandie and the Schoolhouse's Secret (Mandie, Book 26) (Paperback)
Mandie's grandmother has bought the school that Mandie and Celia attend, and because Ms. Taft is installing electricity and furnaces, there are workers and holes everywhere.
But all the holes are blessings in disguise. Mandie and Celia discover a tunnel under the schoolhouse. And that tunnel leads to a very surprising discovery.

I liked this book right from the start. I especially liked the part when Mandie and Celia have a pillow fight and their bed collapses. That was funny!

5.0 out of 5 stars McKenzie's Review of a awesome story, December 12, 2009
This review is from: Mandie and the Schoolhouse's Secret (Mandie, Book 26) (Paperback)
It Starts when Mandie is staying at her grandmother, Mrs. Taft, for more then a week because Mandie was exposed to Malaria. Because Celia already had it before in the past she comes and stays with Mandie. She tells what has happened to the school house by constructer. There were holes in the walls every where and in the floors, and mandie felt a mystery coming on. So after she recovers from a sickness she goes to the school and Celia shows where most of the holes are. But one night Celia and Mandie were pillow fighting and the bed collaps and makes a hole in the wall. They find something behind it and that leads them to a mysterey that is the biggest one that they have ever uncovered.

My favorite part is when they find something under the attic. You will have to find out what it is.
