One of the best Mandie Books published!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Mandie, Book 17) (Paperback)
A book that lives up to the Mandie name! In Vol. 17, Mandie is still traveling through Europe with Grandmother Taft, Senator Morton, Celia & Jonathan. They are in Switzerland, staying at a friends ancient chalet. The three have a lot of spare time, the chalet is HUGE, and Uncle Ned isn't there yet. You know what that means. Mystery. There is a mysterious couple staying there who seem intent on solving the mystery before Mandie and her friends. What mystery? Well, there is talk in town about the chalet being haunted. There is mysterious singing heard nearly every night. Mandie thinks it is coming from a room they can't find a door to. Mandie decides the only way in is by climbing onto the roof, and through a window... Celia to the rescue! I don't want to give away the story, but the Strange Lady shows up again.

A series of books for the entire family !!,

This review is from: Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Mandie, Book 17) (Paperback)
Of all the spectacular Mandie books, Mandie and the Singing
Chalet is one of my favorites...It's fantastic!
Mandie Shaw is travling through Europe with her grandmother and some friends, and Switzerland is their next stop. They are staying at a huge and rather spookey chalet. The building rouses Mandie's intrest greatly, especially when she hears old stories and suspicians concerning the death of a young woman, whose voice can be heard singing at midnight!
Mandie is determined to find out what is happening at the old chalet. Why are the servants so frightened of talking about the mystery? Where is the entrance to the forbidden tower? Who or what is singing at the stroke of midnight? And lastly, who really are the mysterious strangers that appear one day at the chalet door?
Join Mandie in yet another exciting mystery...one more tense and thrilling than ever!!

so exciting!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Mandie, Book 17) (Paperback)
I think this book is one of the best Mandie books. I've been reading Mandie for less than a year and I've already read more than half of them. They are some of the best books I've ever read! I'll be so sad when I've read them all.
In book #17, Mandie and Celia and Jonathan and Mrs. Taft continue their journey in Europe when they arive in Switzerland. They're staying at this big chalet. They hear these rumors that there was a girl who wanted to marry this guy so she tried to run away and her parents caught her and locked her in the tower of the house and she jumped out the window and killed herself. Rumor is, sometimes people can still here her song of sorrow at nighttime. Mandie and Celia hear this singing and try to investigate. Furthermore, a mysterious couple insisted upon staying at the chalet and is doing suspicious things. They seem to hide something. Find out what they're up to and who's singing in this exciting book! I think it's really exciting when Mandie falls of the chalet's roof, although the young people seem foolish to try to go up there to see into the tower. I have just one question: why does Jonathan ALWAYS grin mischievously in all of the Mandie books? This is SUCH a good book and everyone should read it!

Outstanding Writing,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Mandie, Book 17) (Paperback)
This Mandie book was outstanding. I haven't read the Mandie Series in a couple of years and it was a great book for me to pick up and read quickly over the Christmas holiday. It is about Mrs. Taft, Senator Morton, Celia, Jonathan, Uncle Ned and of course Mandie and Snowball. They are invited to the Thaler's Chalet in Switzerland during their tour of Europe. When they get their they discover the Thaler's are not at the house at the time. Mandie discovers that their is a mystery behind the house. They are all settled in the house when suddenly strange visitors arrive. This brings up another mystery. They have a few mysteries they have to solve : Who are the strange visitors? Where is the entrance to the mysterious tower? Where is the strange singing coming from? and Who was walking through the halls of the chalet at the late late hours of the night?

It's a Great Christian Adventure book!,
This review is from: Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Mandie, Book 17) (Paperback)
Set in the beautiful scenery of Switzerland, that the author describes so vividly, a secret race is spinning between Mandie with the help of her friends, and some mysterious, secluded strangers.
Who is going to find the owner of that enchanting voice that sings in the late night? Who is going to discover the hidden tower's secret? And what about that tiny locked-up cottage, that no one seems to know about? With so many questions, and nobody with answers, curiosity kills the cat... and Mandie is the cat facing it's fatal adventure. While reading this book, my mind kept trying to solve all the mysteries that were behind the strange incidents, but I never could have imagined such a surprise that came out of the ending.... I think this is one of the best Mandie books that I have read, as of yet!

Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Book 17#),
By Elisabeth "Gymfan15" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mandie and the Singing Chalet (Mandie, Book 17) (Paperback)
Mandie's in Switzerland, visiting with her friends an old friend of Mandie's Grandmother. Mandie's expecting a mystery any moment, and she 's not disappointed. They hear singing! The words are all jumbled together, but it's singing just the same. Mandie simply has to find out what's making the singing, even if it means taking it to extreme measures, which she does. This is one neat book. I could not figure out what was causing the singing until the end of the book, which is rare because I am usually able to spot out the abnormalities quicker than the characters can. That made this book a real page-turner for me. Read it. I guarantee that you'll be surprised at the ending-that is, if you haven't read it already.
