It angers me to see that you would write such a thing. Can't you understand it's for young people and NOT ABOUT THE BOOK! It's about cooking. Fun cooking in my opinion. Get a grip. Whatever made you say those things was totally rude to people who did enjoy the product. It wasn't the best cookbook I admitt. But to totally bash it is insulting the person who wrote it. I say that if you are anywhere from 8-14 years old you will enjoy it. So I say buy it no matter what any one else says to you!

A SUPER CHOICE for a Child's First Cookbook,
By June (SC) - See all my reviews

When I saw the front cover, I had to pick up this children's cookbook. When I opened it, I fell in love with the inside: the large font headings, the one recipe/page format, and the silhouetted illustrations of those traditional (or pioneer) recipes used by our moms and grandmothers, and the American Indian recipes (Wished there had been more of them). The format would catch any child's eyes and grandma's, too. The recipient of this cookbook was my very young niece who was spending the day with her grandmother. The child busied herself that day perusing the captions and pictures from cover to cover and preparing beverages for her grandpa. At the end of the visit, grandma forgot to pack the cookbook. Oops! But then, a beach trip was planned and the book would not be missed for at least a day. (Now that could be another Mandie mystery: Where is Mattie's missing Mandie Cookbook?)

Untrue to life, and not enough recipes!,

This review is from: Mandie's Cookbook (Mandie Books) (Plastic Comb)
As an avid Mandie reader, I have found that this thing that you call a "Mandie Cookbook" is simply awful. I was flabbergasted at how inaccurate its portrayl of Mandie was, for, it is made quite clear in the 33+ Mandie books in print that Mandie never cooks. She doesn't know how to turn on a stove, and I doubt she would know what in the world a sieve is. In fact, it seems that any physical labor on her part is against the moral values that she was weened upon. Secondly, the recipes did not correlate at all to the plots of the Mandie books. I suggest that more recipes like "Ghost Bandit Goulash", "Dead Dad Dumplings", "Mysterious Bell Vegetable Medley". So, to all those reading this that have been considering buying the Mandie Cookbook, think again! You will not be getting authentic Mandie recipes, but rip-offs that the book company puts together to con gullible young readers. Thank you.
