Very Pleasant Surprise, August 10, 2005
My mom was Italian and lately for some reason I have grown increasingly nostalgic and have been searching for typical Italian music. I am glad I found this CD. When I received it I got a very pleasant surprise. The quality of the sound is much better than I would have expected from such an inexpensive CD. This is an instrumental CD, the surprise here is that the instruments played are not only mandolins, but also guitars and percussion instruments, and occasionally it even sounds like there is a piano (Caruso) and even a couple of other instruments in the background - including a tambourine, maybe? The percussion instruments lend a certain soft cadence to each of the selections that just makes you feel like dancing. Very romantic. I am ready to bring out the candles and have several friends over for a night of lasagna, Chianti and mandolins!
