Manduka's yoga strap design is based on the original strap developed in Pune, India by yoga master, B.K.S. Iyengar. We have improved on the design of the buckle, making it stronger and easier to use. Our straps, available in two lengths ¿ 8' and 10', are made of 100% natural unbleached cotton.

Amazon.com

Based on the original yoga strap first developed in Pune, India, by yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar, Manduka's version is a must for serious yoga enthusiasts. Straps are ideal for yoga students of all levels, as they help practitioners deepen certain stretches and hold poses for longer periods of time. Beginners will find them useful for performing hamstring stretches--a must for improving flexibility--while more advanced students can use the straps to step into and hold more challenging poses. The strap is made of 100-percent natural cotton, with a strong, user-friendly buckle that holds the strap securely in place during use. The strap is available in 8- and 10-foot versions.

I previously owned several yoga straps, all of which were 6' or less. I have found that having the 8' Manduka provides greater versatility, particularly with performing certain restorative postures such as bound supta baddha konasana. Furthermore, my favorite old strap was one made by Gaiam, and although that strap was thick, the Manduka is even thicker and appears to be of better quality. Similarly, the metal clasp on this strap is generally preferred by yoga teachers, as unlike plastic, it is not prone to breakage (which is why you rarely see straps with plastic clasps in yoga studios). Overall, this strap is an excellent addition to my home prop practice collection.

They have changed the buckle design from what is pictured (as of 2014/02/05). The new center sliding piece will not come close enough to the fixed part of the buckle to cinch the strap, thereby letting the strap continuously slip. It does not appear to be a flaw in this particular purchased unit, but rather a poor new design. When contacting Manduka, their response was simply to return it. The belt material itself is soft and I would think that with a well designed buckle (the old design looks pretty good) this would have been a 5 star review.

This strap is wide, thick, and soft. It is very comfortable to use. I purchased an 8' strap since many reviews said that 6' was too short (this brand only comes in 8 or 10 ft.) I'm 5'5 and I think that 6' would have been long enough for me. It's a great brand and an earth conscious company.

Wow! I'm very impressed with the quality of this one. I don't know how I hesitated so much in getting it (...the debate of brands get stucked in my head). I'm not married to any brand for yoga props. My mat is Gaiam, blocks are Hugger Mugger and now, a Manduka yoga strap. But this one: It is a REALLY good yoga strap! Actually, the best one I ever seen. I also own a Gaiam one, 6ft but this one is definitely far superior. Very sturdy with nice soft feel to it. Definitely thicker that Gaiam's. The metal buckle is super safe & strong but easy to handle. It's just how a yoga strap should be! Plus, the red color is beautiful. Top quality. Worth every penny!

I bought these straps hoping they wouldn't slip and loosen when used in a loop. Unfortunately, they do. They are nice straps, but I would look for another brand with a different buckle because of this issue.

The buckle holds fast and yet is easy to adjust. I like the wider width because they are so much more comfortable. Sometimes it's true what they say, "you get what you pay for". They aren't inexpensive but well worth the investment.

It's a great strap. The length is good, and the strap has a nice feel to it. It's a quality product with a metal buckle. Highly recommended!
