If these two are maneaters, then cover me with hot sauce!!,
By
This review is from: Maneater (Hardcover)
Let me say this first (because Amazon does not make this clear) these are TWO SEPARATE stories. This IS NOT a one story collaboration like Preston/Child, or King/Bachman. Now...
I got extremely excited when I saw a book by two of the hottest and sexiest writers in erotic-fiction today! Mary and Noire both put it down and this book didn't even make it on my bookstore shelves before it was in my hands. `Character of a Man' by Mary B. Morrison: Mary starts us off with introducing us to a woman, Seven, who is engaged to an idiot. He comes out of left field and tells her to "lose weight or the wedding is off". All right then! This begins the journey of Seven and Maverick. This was an enjoyable read because Seven was so... so... scatterbrained! Her mother explained why she named her `Seven'. But in my opinion her name is Seven because she has that many people inside her head talking to her! LOL! Maverick, her fiancé, is a MAJOR tool and a waste of human flesh, but you'll almost feel sorry for him when you find out the drama surrounding his mother. `Character of a Man' is another one of Mary's drama filled sexual romps that will make you smile and have some pretty erotic day dreams. Punany Paradise is the name of the island where Seven went to get away if that's any indication! :-) Mary also has a "maneater" test at the beginning of the story and some book club discussion questions in the back. Oh how I wish I could be invited to one of THOSE book discussions!! 4 stars. `Sugar-Honey-Ice-Tea' by Noire: This is one of those stories that grabs you from the jump and since this is Noire, I knew this was going to one good-a** grimy, dirty, sexual, street tale. She DOES NOT disappoint! Blow, Nap, and Tomere are rich, talented athletes who are as filthy as they come. Nothing stands in their way of getting what they want, and they have enough skeletons in their closet to make Hannibal Lecter salivate. I still cringe at one particularly brutal act on the football field and Noire doesn't hold back on the description either! There is also another character, Rishawn, which you'll have to make up your mind about. He's the friend of thoes three and you'll either see him as a weak brotha' or as a someone who knows how to pick the right team at the right time. He pulls some gangsta-type mess on his own too but is a bit shady in my eyes. Sugar, Honey, and Ice-Tea are the name of three of THE baddest, sexiest, PLACKOW-BOOM-POW sisters you'll meet! The old adage is, "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". Apparently hell has never seen anyone mess with these ladies! I don't know if there is such a thing as grimy-erotica, but if there is... Noire has it on LOCK!! Noire must have a ghetto medical degree because her description of the bodies on these women... holy crap!! Her eroticism is on point and its damn near impossible to read her work without getting aroused! How's THAT for an admission!? ;-) 5 HUGE stars for this one!!

Sinfully Erotic 2 for 1,
This review is from: Maneater (Hardcover)
Character of a Man by Mary B. Morrison
A man is judged not only by his looks but also his character. Seven Stephens has a change of heart about her upcoming marriage to multimillion dollar, Maverick Maximillion, when he demands that she lose 25 pounds in the next 6 weeks. Seven books herself a 6-week stay at Punany Paradise to find herself and sexual identity. As she spends her time disconnected from the world, secrets unfold shedding a new light on those she loves - Maverick and her best friend Zena. Sugar-Honey-Ice-Tee by NOIRE Rishawn "Ribs" Rawlings narrates the story about the demise of his 3 buddies - Nap, Tomere and Blow. Ribs was the outside man because of his weight issues, lack of athletic abilities and lack of sexual control. Even though they had been homeboys since college, Ribs lived in the background keeping all the secrets and cleaning up the messes they made. Until Sugar, Honey and Ice Tee entered their world. These ladies were as dangerous as they were beautiful. Nap, Tomere and Blow never saw the end coming and Ribs may find himself a winner after all. Morrison and Noire created a sinfully erotic twofer. These individual sensually explicit masterpieces will definitely ignite your personal pilot light. Be ready to experience sexual ideas from all perspectives while following a revenge plot that will blow your mind. Take a vacation from your daily routine and add some spice to your reading list - you will definitely enjoy the time spent. Deltareviewer Reviewing for Real Page Turners

Boring!,
This review is from: Maneater (Hardcover)
This book was such a waste of time. The first story was just ok to me. Honey B writes about the same things, orgies and bisexual men, which are completly disgusting. Noire's story seemed rushed and it did not make much sense. Don't waste your money, check this out from your local library.

Based on Mary B's story...,

In my opinion, Mary B could have wrote alone with this one. Her characters were colorful and believable, and she kept you turning the pages with her storyline. My only complaint was she left readers hanging at the end, but that's her trademark. Character of a Man was drama filled, lots of suspense and GREAT sex! Seven is in love and ready to say 'I do' to Maverick her fiance, but when he tells her lose some weight or the wedding is off that's when the dramam begins. She packs her bags and uses HIS credit card to fund a thirty day vacation to Punany Paradise. While she's away secrets are revealed about her man and her best friend does everything in her power to protect Seven while she's gone. But she slowly loses control when she meets Dante, Maverick's best friend.
Noire really disappointed me with her story. The storyline was WEAK, and I thought I would never saw such a thing about Noire's stories, but it's true. I went ahead and finished it, but her story didn't hold me at all. Her characters were colorful and that's it. The story was told from Pork Rib's point of view. He was hilarious at times, and other times very predictable. He lives with a guy that he secretly wishes he could be like. Every time I thought something was about to pop off..it never did. Sugar Honey and Ice Tee came into the picture, but they were just there. Noire's story was so boring. Overall the rating is a 3 1/2 for Maneaters.

She's a maneater!,
This review is from: Maneater (Hardcover)
The sweetest revenge is when the suspecting victim doesn't even see it coming. Maneater consists of two short novels by two of the best urban erotica authors out there today: Mary B. Morrison and Noire. It was hard to decide which story was the best because both stories were excellent.
In Noire's Sugar-Honey-Ice Tee, a quarterback for the New York Giants named Blow was definitely a ladies man. Blow had no feelings or concern for the women he dealt with at all, he used them and threw them out to dry. Blow had problems dealing with competition. If he felt threatened in any way, he would eliminate his competition. Blow was the mastermind behind an up and coming football player who coincidently was hit by a car that jumped the curb. Blow never got his hands dirty; he always had his flunkies do the dirty work. Blow is in the surprise of his life when the tables turn. Will Blow be able to handle the battle ahead or will he lose at his own game? Nap was a slick businessman. He was a con artist who lied, deceived and had shady business practices. Tomere had a fetish for young girls, and served as a pillar in the community, which he used as a front to gain access to young girls. Will Tomere's craving for underage girls cause a crashing downward spiral effect or will he be able to beat the challenges that are set in front of him? Ribs was a confidant to all three men, Blow, Nap, and Tomere. All their dirt, secrets, and scams Ribs knew about. Ribs wasn't an athlete or lady's man by any means. Ribs was a shy, slightly overweight guy, and the butt of his friend's jokes. But Ribs has some tricks up his sleeve, with all his classified information Blow, Nap, and Tomere are for a surprise when a plot to eliminate a player, goes terribly wrong. Revenge is the ultimate goal. Their women by the names of Sugar, Honey and Ice-Tee enter into their lives causing havoc and destruction. Ribs may be the last man standing on the totem pole, but not for long. Mary B Morrison's Character of A Man dives into the life of Seven. Seven is a woman that has it all, the perfect man, money at her disposal, and a huge mansion. As Seven prepares for the wedding of a lifetime, she receives the shock of her life. An ultimatum to lose 25 pounds or her fiancé, Maverick is calling off the wedding. Seven has a decision to make, does she succumb to her fiancé request or does she take back control of her life? Maverick was a self-made billionaire. He was one of the most eligible bachelors in the state of Illinois, But Maverick has some inner demons that if exposed could ruin his career and reputation. When Maverick gives his fiancé an ultimatum, is it to keep his skeletons in the closet or is it to protect his fiancé from the truth of who the real Maverick is? Noire and Mary B. Morrison never disappoint, and Maneater was a definite five stars. Noire's Sugar-Honey-Ice Tee definitely was a page turner. The short story is told from Ribs perspective and is funny how these three men do anything to be on top. Not caring about who their actions may affect, Ribs was definitely the sane one with a conscious and a heart. The statement "What's done in the dark comes to light" definitely applies in this story. The Character of a Man is a powerful short story that deals with a lot of issues including sexuality and homosexuality. Mary B. Morrison did not disappoint with this short story. It held my attention from beginning to end and I was shocked and excited as the book continued into the lives of Maverick and Seven. Seven's adventures at the Punany Paradise tantalized every sense of the word. Seven realizes that the issue their relationship has is more than losing 25 pounds on her retreat. She realizes her worth, self-respect and self value. Maneater is a book that will grab you and hold you until you read the very last page. Reviewed by Kristin for Urban Reviews

I like this collaboration. These authors have different styles but they make it work. I still prefer Mary to write on her own instead of collaborating, but I would defintiely recommend this book.

I got this book as a birthday gift and I thought everything about this novella was hot & sexy from the cover to the title . . . well everything was almost hot. This was a surprise to me! I mean I waited so long for this book to come out and I was anticipating on something else and . . . well I didn't get what I was looking for. Mary story was so dry and bluh, bluh, bluh! The sex was even dryer! It started out good but then nothing really happened. Just when I thought something was gonna happen it didn't. Seven Stephens was so boring to me and that Maverick and Zena just made the story so simple! "Character of a Man" was OKAY! That's it! And I love me some MBM but she didn't do it for me in this one!
Now Noire's story, however, was better than the first part of this book. It was predictable, though, but I laughed my butt off reading it! Ribs was hilarious!! The sex in both stories amazed me from these ladies because it was dry as sand. But over all I loved Noire's story! I'm Sugar all the way. Sugar-Honey-Ice Tee was a quick read and it felt like I read it in five minutes literally. This was definitely something different from Noire's pervious works and I dug it. BTW- I think the title was the wrong name for this book! Where I come from Maneater is the same definition as "It Ain't Trickin' If You Got It" well I guess this ain't about where I come from!

This book held two seperate stories in one. The first by M.B.M and the second by Noire. Let me be honest and tell you I skipped straight to the one by Noire. That story was excellent!!! I kinda figured out early what was going to happen, but it was so well written it kept my turning the pages regardless.
Let me honest again, I still haven't finished Mary's story. She is so long winded. Unlike Noire, she is not jumping straight into the story but taking to long to get down with the get down. So after I finish typing I am heading back upstairs to try and finish it. Yawn.... |
