Very strong clamp and smooth mechanism on the Manfrotto 035 Super Clamp I would not go for the T-handle version--you'll appreciate the leverage when tightening with this longer handle. I have about 10 of these in my studio and already need more. Use them on Kupoles & Autopoles to support backgrounds (takes 2 per connection point for absolutely secure support), and carry a few with me when on location for the unexpected...

Bogen-Manfrotto makes high quality gear and this Super Clamp is no exception. It is basically two big pieces of metal hinged together with a large screw mechanism to adjust tightness. It is strong enough to attach a magic arm and a large DSLR on it with no problem. It will securely hold just about anything. Combined with a ball-head, you can mount a flash to almost any hard surface with an edge. It has a standard tripod threaded hole and a lockable stud hole.

I actually use it for holding a boom pole on top of a light stand which it works well for. A good investment as a sound guy.

These are almost like having an assistant that never asks for a day off, or maybe a third hand.

But seriously, these simple clamps are extremely useful and versatile in the studio or on-site. If I need to setup an impromptu background stand, mount a flash head on a shelf or fixture or putting a second flash head on a light stand near the bottom for some unusual lighting effect. There is so much more they can be used for.

This version of the clamp comes without a stud. The idea is you'll get the stud separately from the plethora of those available from Manfrotto. I use the The reversible standard 038 stud with 1/4 thread on one end. If you want the standard stud the clam is also available with the standard stud: Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp with 2908 Standard Stud.

The stud system lets you mount a wide variety of items directly to one clamp or connect two clamps together in a hinge. I've never had a problem with the studs in 30 years of using the clamps (some of them from where they were branded as Bogen, back in the day)

Options really expand when you use the stud to combine two clamps into a heavy duty articulated way to hold two things. For example, using four super clamps, a light stand like the Manfrotto 367B I have and a inexpensive aluminum pipe I will create an impromptu boom for overhead lighting.

It is a super Super Clamp (sorry for my poor attempt at humor). I just purchased two through Amazon. These are my 4th and 5th Super Clamps, not because my older ones broke, because they still work perfectly, but because they are so handy to have on a shoot or in the studio. I recommend Manfrotto Super Clamps. Honestly, I haven't tried the cheaper versions by other manufacturers of these types of clamps so I can't speak to how good or not the alternative brands are. I figure why change when I have am completely satisfied with a product. Being complete satisfied with a product seems to happen so infrequently I am not going to change.

although heavier than I thought they would be, I ended up not really needing them for what I wanted, but Im sure I will someday.

I have worked in a pro photography studio environment for over 30 years. I can't imagine working without the many quality tools
manufactured by this company. Everything is durable, dependable, affordable, and built to last. It's an investment that pays dividends with every successful shoot. These clamps will securely hold everything from a light source, camera, and everything in between.
