Product Description

In 2007 the Manfrotto 190X received the TIPA award for Best Accessory on the market, while the 190XPROB won The Editor's Choice award from American Photo. Manfrotto was so proud to receive these awards, but they didn't want to stop there. Manfrotto has taken this already amazing tripod to the next level. Manfrotto presents a New Generation of tripods to the carbon fiber tripod world, extremely light weight with, incredible performance, fast and easy to use combining incredibly light, high quality materials (100% Carbon Fiber Tubes, Magnesium and aluminum die castings) a revolutionary patented center column mechanism (Q90°, Quick Center Column System), and innovative design. The 190CXPRO3 and the 190CXPRO4 represent three section and four section versions of the PRO tripods. These PRO versions have the patented quick center column system that now uses a tri-faceted 100% full carbon fiber tube, magnesium die castings and magnesium top plate with an integrated leveling bubble. The 190CX also comes in a simpler version called the 190CX3. This three section tripod also uses 100% carbon fiber tubes; however, it features the traditional aluminum center column without the quick center column system.

Lightweight, but very sturdy.

What I heard was don't go cheap, ("Manfrotto and Gitzo are good") go with carbon fiber because of the weight/strength ratio.

Long range of adjustment for height and uneven terrain.

Easy to use, quick to set it up, light-weight and sturdy what more to ask for. I checked a few of them in the store among the Manfrotto collection and I think this is one of the best deal. This tripod doesn't have that feature to flip the center-column in horizontal position but I believe that function is unnecessary. The Manfrotto 190CX3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is very light and it's easy to carry around.

I just bought the 190CX3 and love it. My other tripod is the 190XProB. The 190CX3 does not have the centre column which can be turned to horizontal position (which is not really necessary), but it can do something which the 190XProB cannot, and that is to remove the centre column.

To remove the centre column, remove the retainer from the bottom of the centre column. After removing the centre column, turn the retainer around and plug it in place of the centre column. It also has a screw where you can put your tripod head. This makes the tripod even lighter!

For the price paid for the 190CX3, it is definately worth it for a carbon-fibre.

If you are looking for a quality lightweight, compact but stable tripod then the 190CX3 is the tripod for you.
I put the word "quality" first, because after some costly miss-steps, I have sworn off the always disappointing knock-off copies of name brand tripods, and have gone with the "real deal" in this very well (Italian) made Manfrotto tripod. If you are have used the "knock-off" tripods you will really appreciate the quality and stability of this Italian beauty!
Features:
I find the flip leg locks are MUCH quicker and more secure than the twist type locks of other tripods and lock with with just one flip of my thumb on the two levers at once. Very slick and quick! The center post turn-key lock is easier to use than the twist type too. The four locking leg positions are well designed with a metal thumb push, and much better than only the two or three positions on other tripods. The included low angle adapter is a nice feature that allows you to remove the center post entirely, for close to the ground shots. Most importantly, you won't find a more stable tripod anywhere at this light weight (less than three pounds). The only caveat in regards to this tripod would be the operating height. Make sure it works for your stature before buying.

I had a weak, inexpensive tripod that wasn't up to the task of nature photography. I have a Canon SLR and take mostly nature shots: wildflowers, birds, other animals, and landscapes. I need something solid, but light enough to carry on hikes. I did quite a bit of research online and asked friends who are photographers. What I heard was don't go cheap, ("Manfrotto and Gitzo are good") go with carbon fiber because of the weight/strength ratio. Look for one with a that you can use to get really low shots, plus you but don't have to stoop so much when shooting landscapes. This tripod fit the bill. When I got it, I noticed it was a little heavier than I expected, but when set up it is rock solid so I was happy. Everything about it says quality and durability from the leg locks to the head mount. I'm happy that you can remove the center column for really low shots which I like to take of wildflowers, rocks and streams. Only thing I wish it had was a level. Have to make sure head has one or two.

This tripod combines lightweight with a strong sturdy construction. I use it with my Nikon spotting scope that weighs around 8lbs and find it is perfect for the job.

Great tripod. Lightweight, but very sturdy. Holds my 500mm lens steady at all times. Will always use Manfrotto in the future.

This tripod is my first "high quality" tripod and it has been all I expected.
Very light, rigid, fits in a carry on, and all the parts work smoothly.
I've been very pleased with it.
