Product Description

The Manfrotto 190XDB three-section tripod is stable, flexible, and easy to use, making it a great choice for amateur and professional photographers alike. The tripod is distinguished by its redesigned aluminum frame, which is lighter than previous incarnations and slightly more compact. As a result, it's more convenient to bring this tripod along on shoots without weighing yourself down. Plus, the ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism and the quick-action leg locks have also been greatly improved, making it a breeze to open, position, and close the tripod in just a few seconds. The tension of the locking mechanism is even user-adjustable, so you can find the right tension for your comfort level. And should you need to balance the tripod on an uneven surface, you can set each of the legs to a different spread angle over the tripod's center of gravity--a must for nature shots on outdoor terrain. The Manfrotto 390RC2 three-way aluminum head, which works with both still and video applications, is equipped with a quick-release 200PL camera plate system and Teflon pads to ensure smooth pan and tilt movements with independent locks. The pan-locking bar is also padded with soft, nonslip rubber.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice sturdy tripod, but a bit heavy to carry for long, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Manfrotto 190XDB 3 Section Aluminum Tripod with Manfrotto 390RC2 Pan & Tilt Head (Electronics)
This is my first Manfrotto and I'll have to say I'm sold. If it were composite and a bit lighter for packing into the woods I would have given it a 5-star rating. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong though. My loaded Nikon D80, with Speedlight and medium lens was no problem to hold steady. Head movement is smooth but holds tight in adjusted positions. Quick release is a nice feature and also seats well in the head with minimum movement. Overall, good investment - great value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality tripod, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Manfrotto 190XDB 3 Section Aluminum Tripod with Manfrotto 390RC2 Pan & Tilt Head (Electronics)
Having used Manfrotto tripods at work for product photography I was very impressed with the sturdiness and quality of them, so I thought I'd get one for my Nikon D70. I own a Giottos monopod and wanted a quality tripod also. The 190 xdb/390rc2 configuration is a nice light weight take any where kind of tripod that is ideal for DSLR enthusiasts. The legs extend and move at various angles and configurations to allow for some real creative shots, the center column can be removed and turned upside down for more intricate shooting requirements if needed, not that I've used this feature. I do however like the way the legs can move at different angles from the top with a nice sure sounding click, which is great for uneven surfaces. However, and this is where my little moan comes in - It would have been nice to have included a level bubble somewhere on the top of the tripod so that on those uneven surfaces you can level out the tripod, rather than the Manfrotto logo. Some reviewers have complained about the thumbscrew adjustments to extend the legs but I like how solid they feel. The 390 head has a nice fluid feel when tilting or panning and the inclusion of the RC2 removable plate feels nice and solid and is also quick to remove. Overall this is a very nice tripod and head outfit that feels rock solid with good build quality that will hopefully last many years to come.

Head holds in positions well. Easy to adjust head. Sturdy legs that lock outwards to get you stability in uneven areas as well as get you to the ground level when a wide spead leg is needed to handle some weight. Great tripod from a great company. Love it.
