Product Description

Newly redesigned, the 190XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal center column feature even easier to use. Now, by extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung around to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, so switching between framing and positioning setups is more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved.

I'd bought three inexpensive tripods in fairly quick succession, and was not happy with any. Then someone pointed out to me that I should just buy a really good tripod, spend the money, and be happy. After some research I bought the 190XPROB a couple of years ago. And I have to say: I AM happy! Cheaper tripods often have leg bracing for enhanced rigidity: means the legs don't open to multiple positions. The 190XPROB does open to 3 different leg angles, and it's built like a rock so rigidity is not an issue. The center column easily can be moved to a horizontal position - I never imagined how useful that would be. Once you have this capability, you will find uses for it! Very useful for shooting straight down, or for positioning the camera in a place where the tripod can't be directly beneath it. - - - The 190XPROB, like most good tripods, is just the legs - you will need to buy a "head" separately. Don't skimp on that. Want fast and unconstrained positioning? Get a ball head. Want to carefully adjust the position, consider, and adjust more? You might want a "three way head" (I got that). There are other kinds of heads. If you get a rock solid tripod with a high quality head that you really feel comfortable using (not like the plastic junk that comes permanently attached to a cheap tripod) you will certainly be glad you did.

Does everything I need. Really like the panning feature and the ability to flip my camera 45 deg without disengaging from the tripod.

I finally found a tripod that fit my needs. I tried many different ones but nothing seemed to do what I wanted it to do. The only thing I wished that I did was to spend a tad bit more on carbon because this is a little heavier when I put the manfrotto head on it. I did not like the twist legs because I kept worrying that I might forget to lock one and down goes the camera. This is very solidly build and I'm sure will last a long time. I had it out with strong winds and it didn't budge so I feel my camera is safe on it.
