Please note: This review is for the Manfrotto 200PL-14 RC2 Rapid Connect Mounting Plate with 1/4-Inch 20 Screw ONLY.

I've been using these mounting plates almost exclusively with my lighter weighted Manfrotto tripod heads. I have nothing but good things to say. After years of use, occasional (and, mostly accidental) abuse, dropping, extreme heat and moisture exposure - they all work great. I even even over-tourqued one to the point where it snapped off the mounting stud at the base of the camera! The mounting plate and threads are still fine but camera needed a little extra attention at the Canon service center. Not a single mounting plate I own has broken or failed - ever.

Though these little guys are small, if you're doing any tripod work - weather macro, indoor product, portraiture or just doing a star sweep shot in the middle of the woods on some chilly evening, they're ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. There's nothing worse than showing up to a shot having lugged your camera, lenses, tripod and kitchen sink just to find out that your mounting plate is somewhere else - like on another camera that's sitting on your gear rack back in your studio.

So after a few of these frustrating experiences (I often learn by braille), I purchased a few more to keep with me so I've got one where ever I go. Practically every 35mm kit has at least one, and for good measure I keep one in my Jeep - just in case.

I buy all Manfrotto Brand equipment, due to my first purchase, this little quick release plate.

Build quality is unmatched, and takes abuse with no signs of wear. Buying professional quality the first time will save you money in the long run. I know I can cross this item over for use on many other Manfrotto products/support systems, and Manfrotto will be around for many years to come.

I actually use the plate more now, having purchased the RS-5 Camera Strap from Black Rapid. Instead of using the smaller screw-on mount from their design, which has the camera hanging inverted, I use the 200 RC2 for a quick and easy transition from strap to tripod.

I also use 2 Plates & 2 Adapters when using my Custom T Flash Bracket (for event shooting/wedding), which allows me to place the camera system on the tripod and remove it quickly without having to disassemble my entire system.

It is solid and heavier, which I don't mind.

I own 12 of these. Buy yours today.

Cheers, Drew Loden

The product is what it is. Screw it to the bottom of a camera or camcorder, and then use your Manfrotto head to clip it in to. Having several makes it very easy to change between cameras without the hassle of unscrewing the plate and attaching it to the other camera.

This is genuine Manfrotto replacement shoe for those, like our company, who tend to lose these shoes from time to time. This one delivered on time, good packaging as expected. No surprises. Watch to be sure you order the right shoe with the right screw size for your camera. Manfrotto makes this shoe with a 3/8" screw and 1/4" screw. Most US cameras. Canon Digital Rebel, Sony consumer and prosumer video cameras, etc use the 1/4". I ordered the wrong one the first time.

I bought this head plate because the I lost the head plate on my 498RC2 head. This, according to Manfrotto, is supposed to fit. But it doesn't at all. I am still trying to figure out the right replacement head plate for my 498RC2.

We purchased some Manfrotto (bogen) arms for setting up our vision systems, they work great. We discoverd that the latest arms came with a quick release base, but we didn't get the adaptor plates. Amazon had the plates or a great price and they work wonderfully, they had the exact size of mounting screw and they are exactly what we needed. I am also attaching a photo. Regards,

This is my third Manfrotto mounting plate, purchased for convenience. I keep one on each camera body (2) and 1 on the tripod mount for my Canon 100-400 lens. These plates are long lasting and durable. I've had the other 2 for years with no issues whatsoever. I use them for mounting on a Manfrotto 322RC2 ballhead, and 234RC head for monopods

Hard to say much about this quick release plate. It is super-solid and works exactly like it should. If I have any criticism, it is a bit pricey.

One needs to make sure they have the correct model of their tri-pod/release grip before purchasing one of these plates. Make sure you also check/measure the screw opening on the underbody of your camera so you know the correct size to buy. It just proves that you learn something new everyday, as I had assumed all tripod mounting plates were the same size. A quick search here on Amazon, using my Monfroto model #, and I was given the options available to me. This plate is strong, durable and a perfect replacement for the one I lost a couple months ago. Easy to install/snap in place, and the larger fastener to screw it into the camera underbody is perfect.

Got this plate for use on Manfrotto 804RC2 head. It fits perfectly, and is made with solid metal. The only issue I had with it has to do with the second screw that is designed for cameras with a secondary hole, to prevent them from moving. My camera doesn't need that screw so it had to be taken off, which was not easy (pulling off with a plier worked, but damaged the plastic screw a little).
