5.0 out of 5 stars A Pro Level Heavy Duty Tripod, November 6, 2006

This review is from: Manfrotto 3051 Studio Pro Tripod without Head for Medium Format Cameras (Silver) (Electronics)
I have owned other Bogen-Manfrotto tripods for years. The quality is always first rate. This 3051 Studio Pro Tripod is a well built tripod that can be used in a studio or on location. I am a commercial photographer that needed a sturdy tripod that I could shoot interior room shots from every angle, higher angles need a very tall tripod that is also stable. I had a lighter Manfrotto that I could set up on my location shoots, but it did not extend as high as I wanted, but this tripod is great. It's height will reach to almost 8 ft when extended all the way, and it will support as much weight as the head you use will allow. I have to say although I use it as a location tripod, it's not a light weight tripod, so I would not buy it for hiking long distances to remote locations, but for indoor or outdoor shooting, I can't think of a more stable tripod. Don't forget you will need to buy a head for it, a good head is as important as the tripod itself. I have been using this for several months now and so far it's been even better than I had expected. I also have a tripod bag that I use to carry it when I'm on location shoots, makes it much easier to transport.

5.0 out of 5 stars Studio Tripod, September 21, 2010

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. it's the only option to go for besides a ball head. everyone uses ball heads and this is the only alternative. I wouldn't buy another non-ball head tripod. I've always loved this style of tripod and I wouldn't ever sell mine!!!! if you don't unscrew the screws all the way on the diagonal braces, it will scape on the aluminum and the aluminum will ball up and the legs won't spred as easily. This is not a defect but an operator error i've made with these tripods. be careful with that.

Well made product. everyone who's scene my tripod is impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flexible Yet Solid Tripod, March 18, 2009

I do video for a church and we have five of these tripods which we use to shoot our weekly services as well as shooting lots of differnt studio type video interviews. These are very sturdy and stable which really helps to cut down on vibrations and allow for fluid movement in a live environment. The adjustments are really different than your normal cheapo tripod and it can be a bit frustrating at first to try to get the thing level if you aren't used to them. But it is really nice to be able to put each leg at a different angle and/or height, especially as we sometimes use these on a sloped surface. Highly recommended.
