This book is a great book for Manga and Shoujo beginners. It gives you some great examples and each image has a little note next to it with something useful. Like maybe a drawing of a girl with very long flowing hair and next to it it will have in small writing, make sure all your hair flows in one direction and comes from the same direction to make it look natural. HOWEVER, this book is going to assume you are already a decent artist. And just want to take up Manga. It's step by step process assumes you already know how to draw Manga hair and just need some examples. So if you are completely new to drawing, Betty Edwards might be a better idea first, then come back. Because this is my favorite book PURELY on how to draw Manga. Also, Christopher Hart is an amazing artist. I love his examples in the book.

This book, which I just bought, is absolutely wonderful!! It is filled with great instructional examples and has great information on perspective and drawing in motion. And I can't forgot to add that it is filled with great pictures!! I would say this is a great place to start if you are looking to draw Manga!

Here is a unique book which gives a comprehensive step by step format to drawing Shoujo style manga. The book instructs on the most outrageously cool characters of shoujo. It begins with the basic shoujo characteristics - sperated chapters for boy shoujo and female shoujo. Face, hair style, hair dynamics, expressions, body types, body poses and more. The book then illustrates in detail the different boy shoujo types and female shoujo types and ends with many useful tips on successful drawing, insights on coloring and character development.
I found the text in the book is also particularly helpful to beginner artists, as it explains the lessons in a breezy manner. I highly recommend this book to manga fans as well as serious artist.

this book gives you the basic gist of how to draw in the shoujo style. Not too complicated in the instruction either, which I like. I have a family member who also is interested in drawing so I will happily share this book with her and see how it goes. :-)

I also discovered if you have questions about technique or art stuff, you can look up the author on Facebook and ask on his page. He answers questions! https://www.facebook.com/LEARN.TO.DRAW.CARTOONS

This book is really great if you are good at drawing and want to start manga. Make sure you are good at drawing though cause otherwise your picture will turn out kinda funny looking (trust me! I've seen it happen before!) But otherwise this is an AMAZING book. The instructions are very clear and there are TONS of visuals that will help you to be more accurate with your manga drawing. This book definitely deserves five stars!!!

I got this as birthday present last year.
The content includes instructions on the eyes, the body shapes for both genders, expressions, hair mechanics, and examples, which are all great.
However, my favorite part about the book is that I can still use it even though I'm no longer a beginner. I know the mechanics of the body, how to do the outline, etc. However, it's still great to consult after drawing, or use for ideas.

I bought this at a bookstore a few years ago, and it was of little help to me. It didn't have how to draw them, rather the steps piled together. I would not recommend this for beginners. I had to do a lot of research online before this was ever of any use.
