This is NOT the NLV manga style. It is a standard text-only NLV with a few inserts of manga. Not at all what I was led to expect.

The Manga Bible has several sections with Manga style illustrations. It is not entirely manga illustrated however, so that buyers should be aware of this.

What a surprise!,

I had no idea such a type of Bible existed until I ran across them at a Christian Book store yesterday. My son and my nephew were glued to them in the car all the way home. They said that they thought the Bibles were so awesome and they didn't realize that being a Christian could be "cool". Then they found out that Christian music can be cool too.... they thought this kind of life was going to be boring! Boy were they surprised!

Wasn't what I was expecting,

I bought this book for my kids and was sort of disappointed when I got it as it was not what I was expecting.
I was expecting to see the bible in manga form but what the book was was basically the entire bible with inserts of some of the major parts in the bible in manga form. I would love to see them actually make the manga version of the entire bible, that would be fantastic. Although not very pleased with this version, it's a good buy nonetheless.....

NLT with Manga,

I gave this to my 17 year old. Currently, he does not show an intertest in God, or going to church with us. He loves Manga, and with this being a New Living Translation version - we are hoping he picks it up and shows some interest... I think that we can also include him in our Bible Study since it is easily understood. I would suggest this bible to anyone trying to include kids that currently do not read the bible, or are introducing it for the first time.

So misleading...,

First off, let me say that I'm not a Christian. I'm an atheist. Still, I would find a properly done manga version of the Bible to be quite interesting, as the Bible is a pretty cool piece of literature.
However, this thing is NOT properly executed, and not what it claims to be. The cover makes you think that it's the Bible in manga form, but it's not; it's actually just the Bible (the New Living Translation) with a total of 3 manga-style comics interlaced in between the pages. The thing doesn't have page numbers, so I don't know how many pages the Bible part of it has, but just to put it into perspective, I can tell you that another copy of the Bible which I own has 695 pages of stories; by comparison, the manga-style comics in this thing (all three of them combined) cover only 94 pages in total. When you factor in the fact that pictures are covering most of the space, what you have are comics that just gloss over the details of the Bible, only telling you the dry basics of Christian mythology. This makes it incredibly boring to read and, naturally, means that it doesn't fully tell the story. I noticed, for instance, that it completely skipped the Battle of Jericho, simply stating that it happened. Revelation, probably the best book in the Bible (at least in my opinion), is skipped entirely. Another issue is that it's all in English. This might not be a bother for most people who would want this, but I think it's incredibly deceptive for this to have Japanese written on the front and back when there is absolutely no trace of the language inside. Honestly, this would not be a problem if they had just not put the Japanese writing on the front, but they did. Anyways, that's my review; take it or leave it. Don't buy this unless you want a copy of the Bible and can't find it for a cheaper price. In which case, go ahead, because for all its flaws, it _is_ a full copy of the Bible.

I was very excited to get this bible after reading the excellent manga "Manga Messiah" but it is nothing like that book. The manga sections are very short and it is mostly just bible text (dont get me wrong i love bible text) i just thought i was getting a MANGA bible.
However, this would be a decent choice as a primary bible for a young person. This is not a MANGA bible. It is a regular bible with a very small amount of manga in it. If you are looking for an entire comic bible I recommend the ACTION BIBLE instead. It is fully illustrated with few exceptions for what it covers.

Who knew combining the Word of God and manga artist would turn out to be an awesome read.
Manga artist really knows how to bring the Word alive.

While I was browsing for a New Living Translation Bible a lot of different types came up for College Students, Teenagers, Teen Girls, Pastoral Study Bibles etc. On the 3rd or 4th page this popped up and sparked my interest. It's been a few years since I've been interested in Manga. So I did some research on the Tyndale website, looked at a few reviews and some pictures before ordering. The day I received it, I was really impressed. Not only is the simple packaging lovely, the inserts of Manga art with study and the reference pages for those stories is very impressive. Not only that, the words of Christ are written in red and the translation itself it really easy to understand. All in all I'm pretty happy with the Manga Bible and very happy that I bought it.

I love this, it has both comic areas with great art, and the Bible as we know it. Teens would like it, but all cool Christians and Jews would like it.
