4.0 out of 5 stars Still a good series but getting old
I've been a fan of "Futari H" since the first volume and for good reasons. The artwork is great, the informational tid-bits are interesting and relavent, and all in all it's a fun series.

However, I have to agree with another review from an Amazon reader. The book's title "Orgasm" is exceedingly deceptive. Yura, the female lead, still has yet to experience...

2.0 out of 5 stars Major letdown
I waited to review this series until I had received and read Manga Sutra 4. I have to say that I've never been so disappointed in a series in my life. The illustrations were excellent but the stories were so dull and repetitive . I truly hope Makoto is not a true representation of the Japanese male during sex because, if so, the women are doomed to spend an eternity...

This review is from: Manga Sutra -- Futari H Volume 4 (v. 4) (Paperback)

Yura, the female lead, still has yet to experience one by the book's end. I thought she was overdue for one at the end of the second book. Lo'n'behold book three has a similar let down and now book four has me questioning the writer's intelligence. Hopefully book five will deliver where the last four have irritated some readers.
Another issue I've heard raised is the hokey dialogue. C'mon people...it's manga, what do you expect? Yes, Yura's constant "I'm so embarrassed." quotes are annoying and often undue but it's Manga. Near as I can guess some male readers probably get off on that sort of thing. Whatever.

Also this edition skipped out on the protective sleeve as well. Volumes one and two came in protective sleeves bearing the cover-art but three and four did not. Sloppy judgement call on the part of the packaging department at Tokyopop. Still, this is NOT a reason to discontinue reading the series. Still worth the buy but mainly for continuity in the series.

This review is from: Manga Sutra -- Futari H Volume 4 (v. 4) (Paperback)
this is a great book that will help you in ur relationship with any one it sure did with mine. It also teaches you things that you wouldn't have learned in sex ed class back in High School. This is a great book for any couple or single person looking for a way to help them in there relationship.

I waited to review this series until I had received and read Manga Sutra 4. I have to say that I've never been so disappointed in a series in my life. The illustrations were excellent but the stories were so dull and repetitive . I truly hope Makoto is not a true representation of the Japanese male during sex because, if so, the women are doomed to spend an eternity frustrated and dissatisfied. I can understand the first two volumes showing the couple getting to know each other but we're on volume 4 here. The title was "Orgasm" and Yura, the main female character, never had one! Each book teased and tantalized with this possibility ("Will Yura ever have an orgasm? Will Makoto ever get his act together?") but it never happened. Also, I was so tired of Yura thinking or saying "I'm so embarrassed!" How can two people be married and continue in such an unpardonable situation? I can't believe the author deems this to be a sex instruction manual for the Manga lover. If you want to laugh or just groan at the lameness of the dialogue, you only need to read one book in the series; they're all, more or less, the same. If you truly need a sex manual, don't bother. Oh, and having lived in Japan, I know that the Japanese, both male and female, are much more sophisticated than these books portray. On the bright side, there were several educational moments, such as the explanation of Shijuhatte (Japanese Sex Manual); that's why I gave it two stars instead of one.
